Questions & Answers

Universal??

Is this a universal item. Will it fit all toilets?
Asked by: flaco
It comes with various adaptors to fit most toilets. But it does not WORK universally, despite fitting. See my review.

Is the Fluidmaster Duo Flush System in stock at my local Home Depot ?

Asked by: Bigwavedave
I would say that it is most likely, as it is in my area, it's in stock at all of them or at lease normally stocked. Within 25 miles.

Does the flush handle come in bronze color?

I have only seen chrome colored flush handles, do they come in bronze as this better matches my decor?
Asked by: Picky
Unfortunately, no. That was my initial hesitation, since we have all custom hardware in our bathrooms. Still, it is a clean appearing handle if it doesn't clash too severely. I contacted the company and they indicated that they don't currently offer any options. (Not holding my breath, but if enough people raise the issue, maybe they will consider answering the call.) No shame in being picky! Hey, I'm also picky too or I wouldn't have spent bucks for custom hardware in the first place.

Warranty

I have installed this item and used it for a couple of years. The cable has broken where it attaches inside the flushing mechanism. I see a statement of a five year warranty, how do I get a replacement?

Customer Reviews

Duo Flush System is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 111.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No..dont buy unless you want to waste water. Very flawed des Good idea poor design. We installed it in our office to test before making a recommendation to clients. I'm sure glad I did. In three months we quadrupled our water usage. The flaw seems to be that their is no prevention from the valve sticking open. Two bills later and we used 22000 gallons one month and 19000 the next bill. This is from 8500 gallons.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I have to keep buying the whole kit over and over The flush/fill part only works for ~6 months before you have to buy the entire kit again (they don't sell just the water fill side) doesn't save On water because starts to run if handle isn't perfectly level, then the seal stops working and slow constant run of water into the bowl. Cannot get the kit out of the tank to switch it back to the original equipment so we are stuck in buying the duo flush every 6 months or sooner. Never put this product into your tank you will be stuck and throwing money down the bowl seriously. I would put zero stars or negative but it's not an option.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did Not Fit My Toilet I like the design of this product and I was looking forward to using it to save some water but unfortunately it did not fit my toilet which had a 2" drain. If your toilet has a 3" drain it should work OK. It can be difficult to tell from the packaging exactly what toilets this works with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Helps save on your water bill Very easy to install and use. I installed it in about 15 minutes. I have been using this product for about 3 months and have been very pleased with the function. I have seen a decrease on my water bill also.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 3 purchased - 3 FAILED!! What a waste of money! I installed 3 of the Duo Flush systems in the bathrooms of my house. The first one seemed to work well for several months which is why I purchased the other two. Bad choice on my part. I followed the installation instructions exactly each time. After about a year the plastic cable sheath snapped on the first one, making the flush mechanism worthless. The flush mechanism can't be purchased separately so I had to buy the whole kit just to get a new flush mechanism. Waste of money. I noted that the cable and flush mechanism had been redesigned on the newest model; clearly Fluidmaster knew something was wrong with the old design. And only a few months later I found out what was wrong. After about a year of use, BOTH of the other Duo Flush systems I purchased failed identically less than a week apart from one another. Making this the THIRD failure our of THREE purchased!! BOTH of the cables snapped off internally to the flush mechanism. BOTH of the cables had rotted and snapped off. All three units failed after less than a year of use! I wanted to save water because of a constant drought in the area but I've now wasted $75 on worthless water saving equipment! I'm so furious with these products I'll never buy another one! Sure I saved some water, but not nearly enough to pay for all these poorly designed Duo Flush systems! Now I have to spend even more money to replace these worthless Duo Flush systems! I'm infuriated with this product and how poorly it performed over time. What a waste of money!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save Your Money. Do Not Buy This Product. I am truly not satisfied with this product. I converted all three of my toilets in January/2014 to the DUO FLUSH system. I purchased this product because I was intrigued by the dual flush system, the potential water savings and due to your advertised 5 year warranty. My problem with your system is that the cable continues to break, and therefore I need to repeatedly purchase and replace the DUO FLUSH Valve. At over $30 a replacement it has become very costly to run this system in my toilets. Unfortunately I thought I had bought a good quality product and threw out all my old parts, so I can't convert back. Here is a history of what I have purchased so far: January 6, 2014 purchased 3 (installed in 3 different toilets) May 31, 2015 purchased 1 September 3, 2016 purchased 1 December 19, 2016 purchased 2 September 23, 2017 purchased 2 (1 not being used as it is a spare) Add it all up and it has cost me over $270 for 9 units over a 3.75 year period. I am thinking of replacing my toilets, as the DUO FLUSH option has turned out to be way too expensive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Simply Don't Buy It! I successfully installed this this Dual Flush system and it actually was a fairly easy installation process. I have owned this for approximately one month and it has wasted more water than saved. The problem is that occasionally after flushes the flapper, or whatever it's called, doesn't seal and the water continues to run because the tank does not fill. A simple wiggle the handle seems to get the flapper to seal. Trying to teach two young children to wait and listen for the toilet to stop filling is just too much.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I will not be buying this flush valve again I have bought 2 of these units for the same toilet. Both of them the cable has broke at about one year. The first time didn't think much of it, just got a new one and keep the old one for parts later. Now the cable has broke on second one and can't find just cable. Had installed on most used toilet in house though would save on water. The valve and float assembly has worked fine on both units it just the cable that is the problem
