    A:  Most of the kit will work without changing out the fill valve. To use everything you have to change the flush valve. You can change just the flapper and the fill valve. Hope this helps and good luck.

Try lowering the water level in the tank to let less water out and reset the flapper which is adjustable, by turning to a lower number.           The flapper leaks! The installation went well, but when I tested the toilet operation the flapper...
          The flapper leaks! The installation went well, but when I tested the toilet operation the flapper leaked. With a light push on the flapper I can hear the leak stop. I checked the chain and it is lose, but does not interfere with the flapper. Now I am off to by a new flapper to replace my new flapper.

            Classic Do it Yourself Project
            This is a product that takes some patience and some thinking to get it right. However, the cost savings are big and you can get it done right in a couple of hours. A plumber would need the same amount of time because you must remove the toilet reservoir from the bowl in order to be able to work easily. I tested it and it worked just fine on the first flush.

            Worked great!
            The tank in my 15 year old Briggs toilet was leaking and kept running the fill valve. Probably a worn flap. But I figured it's best just to replace everything given the age of the old internals -- the old bolts and gaskets looked a bit scary. This kit provided all new parts. They fit perfectly and my toilet was back to new after about an hour of labor. Good instructions and decent quality parts for the price. Much cheaper than paying a plumber.

            Toilet Works Better than New
            The Fluidmaster Kit has all the aprts to completely make everything inside the tank back to "NEW" condition. The illustrated instructions are quite easy to follow. By purchasing the complete kit, the fill valve and flush valve are compatible and make an excellent rebuild of the tank.

            Was a good kit until they removed some parts.
            It was a perfect kit to rebuild Mansfield toilet tanks until they removed a screw set. Mansfield has 3 screws and now I have to buy an additional screw set to get enough parts. Also most people have replaced their fill valve in those toilets and Home Depot stopped carrying the flush valve assembly by itself so I have to buy the whole kit and have trouble separating out the cost when I only use the flush valve assembly in the kit. I like HD but they keep changing what they got right.

            product stopped the leak.
            I've rewriten this review. I first gave it 1 star because it leaked from the tank to the bowl after installation. When putting the tank top back on after photographing it, I discovered that the chain was catching under the rubber attachment loop on the flapper. I had checked that it couldn't reach under the flapper itself and hold it open, but it was long enough to catch under the loop. This is shown in the attached photo. After remedying that, it works fine.
