Questions & Answers

Can recordings be made to an SDcard?

Asked by darkling April 27, 2016

Yes, the camera has an SD card slot. You may use up to 32 GB.

is camera avail for wink

Asked by Jeff January 24, 2016

Hi, If you are wanting to use the port forwarding or for local connectivity feature (via IP Address) with the Wink app and Wink app allows that, then it should work. Regards Foscam

Do you see any lights on while it is recording?

Asked by Robert December 3, 2015

Hello, The only lights you will see are the Night Vision IR LED's in the dark. The LED's themselves are very faint and are not easy to spot.

Does the camera make noise as it moves?

Asked by Robert December 3, 2015

Hello, The gears within the Pan/Tilt mechanism are very quiet. The only time you might hear it is if there is absolutely no noise in the room.

Can video be recorded at some time later

Asked by none November 30, 2015

You may use an SD card - up to 32 GB

Motion and sound notifications?

Asked by Maris November 23, 2015

Hello, Yes if you set up Text Message alert or Email alert.

Asked by momof6 October 31, 2015

Hello, Yes you can set up your computer to hold recordings from the camera without any subscription. As long as you have an internet router, this is possible. The camera does have motion detection and records as soon as it sees something moving. As far as I know, the motion detection works pretty well if you tweak the sensitivity a few times to the desired setting.

what is the range for the audio?

Asked by pattycakez1959 October 14, 2015

Hi, It depends on how loud the sound is. For a normal conversation, it can pick it up around 10-15 ft. If there is a lot of background noise this my shorten the distance. If the mic isn't powerful enough, there is a port on the back to add an external mic.

Foscam Cloud?

Asked by SantaClaritaHD September 2, 2015

All I can tell you-you can view on an android phone.

How long can we record video?

Asked by MrCoder August 26, 2015

This product can record as long as there is based on the hard drive in the DVR. It can be set to record upon motion or at certain times.

Does the job.
I have bought three of these cameras to keep an eye on different areas of the house. It took a little effort to set up the wireless connection and the access the cameras from anywhere over the internet. You need to follow the instructions step by step. There is also an 800 number available with someone to help you in case you get stuck. Good value and features for the price.

Peace of mind!
Having these cameras in my living room give me the greatest peace of mind. I can check in on my dogs through out the day to make sure all is well. OR I can check on them and see when they have destroyed things! The color (as you can see in the attached picture) does vary by the amount of light in the room. I have the blinds closed and the tv on. That is the only light in the room. Very easy to set up. I am able to access the picture from work on a PC, from another room in the house or even on my smart phone. I can use a Windows, Android or Iphone to view the image. I also like the ability to change the view remotely.

works great a good product for the price
Wasn't to hard to set up with the help of utube videos. Just got back from a trip and it worked like a charm sending me clips of video via e-mail when sound or motion was detected when I was surveying my pets. The only problem is I need to up grade to the new model with HD and zoom

not easy to set up. camera shutter too slow to catch movement.
The set up was not very easy. The instruction in the enclosed manual and on-line video is not very accurate. I found the instruction in the enclosed CD is much easier to follow. Once I get the camera up and running it works fine both in day time and night vision mode. Pros: records short video when motion is detected. Sends out 6 shots of photos when motion is detected. Able to control pan & tilt remotely. two way audio. Cons: There are a few issues which I would like to point out for other potential buyers: 1. When lighting condition in the room changes, the camera will sent out an e-mail notification which doesn't bother me, but might be annoying for some. 2. the camera shutter is too slow to capture movement. So the image is blurred if a person walks by quickly. 3. The iPhone App doesn't work outside of my home network. I found a 3rd party app (free) which works much better.

Excellent camera for phone, internet and home network!
I love this camera! I was able to set it up to view on my home network, over the internet from anywhere in the world and on my phone! I have an Android phone but I have also viewed it on my iPad and an iPhone. I thought the setup was very easy. It works quite well. I can even Pan and Tilt using my phone!! With the built in webserver you don't need to install anything to view it from the internet. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. The only CON is no zoom feature....at least I have not found one yet.

Great afforable network IP camera
The price for the camera is a pretty good. Set up is pretty straight forward with a little technical know how. They also have how-to videos on their website. You can find Foscam vids on YouTube. The model I bought (FI8910) came with DDNS (free) so you can watch your camera over the internet in less than 30 minutes. I've tried the camera apps on an iPod and android tablet. They are OK but I prefer a full web browser. With IE you get more features enabled even though I like Firefox. Pan/Tilt, Night vision, record and 2-way audio. Only thing missing is a Zoom feature - but for the price I'm very happy. I bought two : )

Don’t count on technical support!
First of all you can sometimes wait an hour for them to pick up the phone. It’s off shore “support” so it’s very, very difficult to understand each other much less solve your problem. If you are pretty technical, you should be able to do it yourself with the help of YouTube videos. Equipment wise, seems to be OK. Software, not the greatest. It isn’t very user friendly. The camera may take a while to show in their “IP Camera Tool” window and then quickly disappear. One of the two Foscam cameras that we bought keeps going off line. Good luck!

set up tricky
Setting up the camera requires an IT background. IP's, no-IP's, port forwarding...I am about to give up. Oh, and no recording ability. Go fish.
