7 in. Cast Iron Tortilla Press

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good weight to the tortilla press and heavy enough to compress the dough. I would have preferred if the cast iron was not coated and well seasoned instead. The coating will prevent potential rust but it also looks like it will be prone to chipping as the handle is rubbed against the body of the press. I was able to easily make a tortilla or flatbread. It did come out a little thicker than I would have liked and might not work for things like wonton wrappers but this can be remedied by adding a little bit of cardboard to the middle. The key to using this press is to use some wax/parchment paper or plastic to keep dough from sticking. There is some pitting in the metal but doesn’t matter much functionally since I use paper/plastic to prevent sticking. The stock photos do not show this but the handle is attached to the body with a bolt and a bent wire acting as a pin. The advantage of this is that you can take it apart for storage and easy to find a replacement pin if you ever lose it. The downside is that the pin is a little bit hard to put in and remove if you don’t have nimble fingers and it is not very tightly attached to the body. Overall, it is a functional press and works.

This is the first tortilla press I have purchased or used, so I do not have anything to comparebit to. I found that the Tortillas turned out thicker than I would like and after one use the coating peeled off where the handle meets the press.

Why they didn't make non-stick surface is beyond me. Making thin tortillas without them sticking and tearing is really difficult.

I use plastic sheeting to create more of a nonstick surface for those stickier doughs. The hinge allows everything to align perfectly to give you the perfect press! There are so many things you can make with a tortilla press! It is a staple in my kitchen!

I need gluten free tortillas and they are pretty expensive so making them myself makes the most since and with this tortilla press it is so easy to do. I love the compact size of this press so I can just slide it in the cabinet out of the way when not in use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this Tortilla press to try out side me and my family love tortilla bread and buy it all the time. The press is perfectly shaped and sized for pressing tortilla. The only thing is that it is made in a way that will make it hard to heat up on my my glass cooktop and would scratch my cooktop. I really like this brand and their kitchen items but won't recommend this press if you have a glass cooktop, it will work better with the flame on a gas type.
