A hefty but well balanced pneumatic framing nailer (which uses 21 degree, 2 inch to 3 ½ inch Full Round Head, plastic collated nails), this tool will adequately address the needs of an advanced DIYer who, for example, frequently is framing sheds, deck boxes and the like or, is of the age where arthritic joints preclude sustained hammer work. The tool comes ready to use (after adding a few drops of the supplied tool oil) and is supplied with 100 three (3) inch nails to orient yourself to the adjustments and operating modes of the tool. You will probably use half of these nails to find the “sweet spot” of air pressure and depth control setting before actually using it for a project. The full round head nails make it easier to finish driving the nail home with a hammer, should you not achieve full depth from the nailer. At 8.6 pounds, it is not a lightweight but, as noted above, is very well balanced so that you don’t really feel the weight of the tool. A cushioned comfort grip is provided which adds to user comfort. Designed to operate from an air supply of from 70 to 115 psi, in use, I found 90-95 psi a good starting point for adjustment. The exhaust discharge can be rotated 360 degrees to avoid impinging upon the user. The depth of penetration of the nails may be changed by a mechanical adjustment (a knurled knob at the head of the nailer) and the operating pressure or a combination of the two. The mechanical depth adjustment is somewhat sloppy and imprecise. There is no indictor to aid in resetting to a previous depth and, since when adjusted for straight shots did not always fully drive the fastener when toenailing, could be a hinderance for a commercial user. It is possible to use the tool in either sequential fire or bump-fire mode, however it requires the changing of the trigger (rather than a selector lever or knob). In addition to being time consuming, it increases the chance of losing one or both of the triggers, the trigger spring, and/or the pivot pin and retaining O-ring. Even if one does not choose to change the trigger to bump-fire (a wise choice for the DIYer), the retention of the trigger pivot by a tiny O-ring will, no doubt, lead to the pin working it way out after sustained use and drying of the O-ring. Surprisingly, no spare O-rings or trigger pins were included as spares. Prior to the (linear) magazine emptying itself of nails, an “anti-dry fire” mechanism will inhibit further operation until the tool is reloaded with nails in the 55-nail capacity magazine. A quick disconnect air fitting comes with and is installed to the tool and provided with a plastic dust cap to prevent the ingress of foreign matter into the tool when not in use. The “non-marring pad” supplied with the tool (not sure why for a framing nailer) can be removed and will need to be if one is attempting to accurately toe-nail studs. There is no integral rafter hook, so one will end up having to find places to place the tool down in between uses. The generation of a significant spark every time a nail was driven will require some caution when using near combustible material (or, hopefully not doing so). In summary, while adequate for many advanced DIYers, this may not be the best choice for someone who is framing 8 hours a day.

This seems to be a perfect framing nailer for a DIY guy like me, who needs it for a periodic home project or to help a friend. It seems to be well-built though I have no way of knowing how it would hold up to the rigors of everyday use.I like the no-mar tip and the comfortable non-slip handle. At 8.5 lbs. it's slightly heavier than some other brands I looked at but only by about a pound. The NPT hose fitting is fixed not a swivel like some pricier brands but that's fine for my uses. The fact that it has no hanging hook also doesn't matter to me. It drove the nails provided quickly, smoothly and even with the wood surface right out of the box without adjustment. The manufacturer warns against trying to use all the nails before reloading and says it will stop firing when it reaches seven nails. I'll take their word and not test this to avoid problems.

For those interested in country of origin, this product was made in CHINA. Purchased this item because I need to create a 10' x 10' deck for a shed and the thought of nailing was not acceptable. This worked very well. Researched the company and found it had a good reputation for products. Not a very heavy machine to use. Arms will hurt at end of job if you are a DIYer. Fires single and multiple with the supplied additional trigger guard. Works with 60 - 115 PSI, so only a small compressor is needed. Loads easily, and will not fire when empty. Tried 2" and 3 1/2" nails, not a problem. Problem with sinking nail heads but easily resolved with change of setting. Would have wished for a carry case to protect the unit. The shipping box will not last long. Be aware that it will sometimes double nail when in single nail mode.

I started using framing nailers about 40 years ago. Back then I was framing for a living and the guns we used then were nearly 4 times what this one is now. So it amazes me that you can get a pretty decent gun for the selling point on these. This is missing some features of the ones I used back then but then for the cost I would expect that. One thing I notice right away is that loading nails is a little more of a hassle than the ones I once used. On those you dropped in a clip of nails and pulled back the spring and it would slide across the nails then engage as you released it. With this one you have to pull back then drop in the nails. Of course on those old ones every now and then the spring would slip off the nails. I see no way for that to happen here. So that is a trade off. As far as the weight this one seems heavier than the lighter ones I used but a lot lighter than the heavier ones I used. So middle of the road on weight. This is a good gun for projects like what I got it for (building a small utility building.). For the selling point it is hard to see how you could go wrong with this gun. I rate this high because I think for the selling point it is a good deal.

Didn't send the promised nails
The tool itself is about what I expected for the price: nothing fancy but usable and sturdy. Unfortunately I'll have to wait a few days to use it because instead of shipping with 100 nails like the description says, it only included 50. That turned out to be barely enough to adjust the drive depth for the job I had in mind. If they had sent 100 as promised I would have had more than enough to set the depth AND complete the job I wanted to do. As it is I have to wait until some more nails are shipped to me because my local Home Depot only stocks them in bulk. A small gripe but pretty annoying nonetheless. Again, the tool seems to be adequate. Too bad about the other. P.S.: requiring a minimum of 500 characters on this review is a bit of a pain also.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

It performed as expected with no problems for its first job. I am happy to upgrade my nail gun selection with a nail gun with its capability. I hope to see it work for many jobs to come.
