Can I store this freezer in a damp basement?

Hello JohnnyWalk! We have researched the manual and the freezer should not be placed in an area where the temperature will exceed 110°F. Temperature below 32°F do not affect the operation of the freezer. The damp basement may cause moisture to build on the outside and weather can cause cosmetic damage on the freezer. Hi James, this particular 15.6 cu. ft. Chest Freezer in White is an online item and comes directly from the Homedepot.com vendor's inventory where it is delivered to you directly and does not come from a local Home Depot store nor can it be delivered to a Home Depot store as this is delivered by a home delivery company. However, there is a listed store special order SKU on the product page and thus the store should be able to place a special, non-Homedepot.com in-store appliance order for the merchandise. This is our second Frigidaire freezer. The first is still going strong after 5 years and I believe it is the same size as this one, 15.6 cu ft. We raise pigs, rabbits, ducks and chickens and my wife loves to stock up on turkeys when they go on sale around Thanksgiving. Turkey at 59 cents a pound is a great deal, so she bought 4 the day the freezer arrived. The freezer was delivered and the 15.6 cu ft is a good size as it easily fit through several doorways and we had trouble finding a good spot for it. Once set up, we put a container of water in the empty freezer and turned it on . Only a few hours later, the water was frozen solid, so we moved our new turkeys and a freshly butchered pig into it. We store most of our meet in the new freezer and keep veggies, entrees, ice cream, frozen pizza, etc in the older one. We love the convenience of buying bulk when the sales are on and having lots of food available for unexpected guests or those cold winter weeks when you don't want to have to go grocery shopping. The freezer is a nice size, easy to reach to the bottom, has a storage basket that slides along the top, and comes with a light so you can easily see the contents. There is a drain plug on the right front so you can drain out water when defrosting, and the thermostat is located on the exterior, on the left side. There is also a 'power on' lamp on the front so you can verify at a glance that all is well. The freezers are so quiet, you'd never know they were running. The thermostat on both our freezers is set at midway, which is plenty cold. I deducted one star (I'd have preferred to only ding it by half) because while crawling on to top of the freezer to run a wire for a plug, the top dented even though I was careful and tried to spread my weight (190 lbs) evenly. I finished the job with a piece of plywood on top. The dents were minor, but I feel the top could be a little more substantial. Despite that we are pleased and would recommend the Fridigaird 15.6 cu ft freezer to friends and family, as well as Home Depot. We've bought many appliances there and have been happy with the delivery and products. None have required service so far.

SO MUCH ROOM!
I absolutely LOVE this freezer! We are definitely a family that loves to freeze things so that we always have what we need on hand. We just outgrew our old 5 cuft freezer, so this nearly 16 cuft freezer seems absolutely enormous! What I really love is that it only uses about $3 more energy annually than my 5 cuft freezer! WOW! It's also extremely quiet. Some of the very nice features are that the lid locks, it has a defrost drain at the bottom and there is a light on the inside when you open the lid. But I also noticed that it gets cold REALLY, REALLY fast. This thing is super efficient, huge and whisper quiet. You could store a whole side of beef, 4 deer and your whole garden in this and probably still have room for more. LOVE IT!

Gets cold fast!
