AnswersUnless the one you are removing requires you to do so, for example if it nails in from the bottom (rare), then no. This one easily slides on an open door while still on the hinges.

AnswersIt will seal a 1/2 inch gap, but I don't believe it would work for a 3/4 inch gap. You would have to rig a fix for 3/4 inches.
My gap underneath is like a quarter inch and this half inch makes it real hard to shut door. What can I do about that?

AnswersYou screw it in on one side. It is on the inside. 5 screws. You may need a metal drill bit to drill pilot holes since it does come with screws but they are not self-tapping.

Short-term Fix

I've bought a few (3 or 4) of these to replace older door bottoms. They are fine for a short-term solution, but the rubbery plastic strips start tearing off within a few months. Looking for more-sturdy solution as I write this. If you just want to stop cold/warm air from rushing in while you figure out what to do, these are fine.

I have refinished three of my exterior doors. This product is a perfect fit for making sure my door bottoms are sealed from the elements. As an added fix, I used thin balsa shims to fill in the gaps between the door bottom and the inside of the weather strip after aligning and making the screw holes. Cut thin sheets of 36"x3" hobby balsa in half to make perfect shims.

Easy to install. I had to trim it down a bit to fit my door, but it worked. The bottom of it is a bit rough on my door stop, but I think and hope that will loosen up over time.

The bottoms of my metal French doors peeled away from the frame and needed to be replaced. I was able to use the slide on door bottoms to repair and insulate my doors I saved over 1,000 on replacement doors. Great product.
