This normally will not help prevent odors from coming in. Since it does help restrict air flow around doors or windows, it could help in a small way

Depending on how the lids are made you could use them and it should work for your purpose, but if you were going to be opening and closing not sure how they would hold up.

Hi Search for (3/4 white vinyl tape). It will give you all kinds. Look for a vinyl tape that is thin. A lot of it is electrical which is probably a little thicker that you would want. Hope this helps.

I bought this weatherstrip to put on some white 1...
I bought this weatherstrip to put on some white 1 X 2 indoor storm frames I made for my windows in my condo. I apply the weather strip to the 1 by side and then place the frame in the window opening and tape window film to the frame. My windows don't have wood trim, only drywall, so I don't want to try to tape to the drywall! Sometimes it's hard to find the thicker white foam weatherstrip so I'm glad Home Depot had what I wanted in time for winter. I like white foam tape because it doesn't mark up my window opening like the gray tape I used the first year.
