Q:Can you paint to match garage door color
by|Nov 26, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Yes you can, however the flexible vinyl willnot hold the paint very long, it will start to crack and peel as it rubs against the garage door.

Q:is this applied with adhesive or nails
    by|Nov 19, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  It is best to use nails. Adhesive can be used but would need to set-up a few days before using the garage door.

          Don’t waste your money
These garage door weather strips shrink when in direct sunlight. They are complete garbage. Don’t waste your money.

          Off to a good start
I'm pretty sure I have the original garage weather stripping (house built in '07) & with Summer coming on I wanted to put up a new one. The Frost King one was thinner but the material for the plastic base & the synthetic stripping feels to be the same. It looks & works great (so far) & I'll try to update my review at the end of the Summer if it holds up or sooner if it doesn't since my garage gets beat down with the North Carolina Sun from 0900 until sunset every day!

Well, this is the only strip attached to solid piece you can find on the market lately. The plastic band is very thin compared to previous ones I have used but it perfectly sealed my garage on the sides. You can easily trim it with utility knife and nail it to your wood support to seal your door. The sticker of the product did not come off easily, fortunately it was on the back

I used this strip vertically to close the gap on a sliding door. It seems well made and fairly heavy duty. I wish the flat finish was on both sides instead of having the ribs on one side. I drilled holes and used flat head screws to mount it and it is very sturdy. It looks like it should hold up well.

Shrinks, Shrinks, Shrinks The Un-Amazing Disappearing Weather Strip
I installed this weatherstrip prior to having my house painted so everything would get painted at the same time. Less than a week later it had shrunk and curled on the bottom so I cut the damaged section out and replaced it with a new piece of the proper length that I had left over. That lasted about another week before shrinking another inch at the bottom and slightly less at the top. It appears the sun affects it as the side of the door that is shaded had less shrinkage. This was temps in the 90's at most. I can't imagine what it would have done in the summer heat in 110's plus. This was a complete waste of time and effort to install as it had to be removed and returned for a refund.

              Easy Home Improvement Project!
The weather stripping around our garage was yellowed and cracked. The door are oversize, so it was hard to find weather stripping long enough that it didn't have to be pieced. I found just the right thing on HomeDepot.com. My teenage sons were able to take down the old and put up the new. It looks great, and was a valuable learning experience for my boys!
