Are there any issues with condensation behind product? Anyone had issues with mold after using?
Asked by: nanny
I installed on 4 of my windows and in the 2 years it's been on no issue with condensation or mildew. I leave it on all year long as they are bedroom windows. But then I do live in Florida though you wouldn't know it this last week

My windows are stained, not painted, might the tape damage them when removed?

Asked by: Frosty
Yes, the tape might damage any surface that is not well maintained, as it's removed. I'd urge you to test the tape in a discreet location, to see if your stained surface rips off with tape, before adhering this stuff. The tape is strong enough to hold the plastic on, and then to be stretched taut, so it's fairly strong. That said, I applied it to my painted wooden windows and a metal exhaust fan in the ceiling, and both adhered well, and came off nicely with no damage in the spring. My home was well maintained, but 25 yrs old, so not brand new, either. This stuff works well, but no one can know if your windows can take being taped all winter, then ripped off without damage. It's just a risk you have to take... or not. Your call.

Can I put this right on the window in 2 different pieces, or do I have to cover the whole opening with 1 piece?

Asked by: Mike
The purpose of these plastic insulation sheets is to stop the drafts from the outside of your window. If you install it just inside the wall opening around your window, it will do a good job of cutting down the drafts, and once you trim it, and shrink it, it will virtually disappear to a casual observer. If you cut the plastic, to fit the actual glass part of your window, it won't be cutting down the drafts that come in around the perimeter, & it will have virtually no effect on your energy efficiency, so it would be pretty pointless to put it on the glass part only. My opinion, but I doubt there are any benefits to adding a layer of plastic to your glass. (Imagine a glass bowl of hot water, now imagine if you stuck a plastic wrap between it and your hand. Would that have any real effect on how much it burned your hand? Not really. Same idea here.)

Can this double sided tape for the plastic be put onto wallpaper and not the window molding witho...

Can this double sided tape for the plastic be put onto wallpaper and not the window molding without damaging the wallpaper once it is removed? I have to cover all the molding/trim of my window...which is metal..as draft is coming in from perimeter/edges. Too cold now to caulk outside of window....I just discovered this issue. It appears I will have to cover the entire window from outside edges of frame.
Asked by: George
I would say so, but only because I found the tape to be so poor, that I doubt it could damage a dried leaf. I think it's better than having nothing covering a drafty window, but not by much,
