1. No, the film is highly transparent. Take care to get it as smooth as possible when you position it, then a dryer on the "high" setting will remove any small wrinkles. 2. Yes, it can be removed, but the heat will only shrink the film once -- not a second time.

I have not used it on aluminum windows. My experience has been on wood. Not sure the tape is conducive to metal/aluminum frame.

I have painted window frames and found that the paint did come off a bit from one of my windows. I found if I hold the sheeting and pull up the paint was less likely to come with.

I also have asthma and have not had a reaction to the sheets. There does not seem to be enough of an odor to trigger my asthma although there is some smell when they first come out of the package.

This product was 1/2" too short to stretch from the top of the window to the window sill. Fortunately, this being my first time to use it, I started with a window that is shuttered at the bottom and has a valance at the top, so when I trimmed the excess from the sides, I used some of that to cover the little bit of exposed tape at the top, and then I used ordinary invisible tape to tape some of the excess from the sides to the bottom of the plastic so that it would reach to the tape on the bottom sill. Then I shut the shutter, so no one will see that I had to patch it at the bottom. Stretching from side to side, there were almost no wrinkles at all, so I barely had to use the hairdryer at all!

Don’t buy , get 3m
Sucks. Do your self a favor and buy the 3m product. Tape is not sticky and comes off. Plastic doesn’t shrink with heat.

Easy to install. Doesn’t stay. Potential waste of money.
The kit was easy to use and install. It actually made a big difference in keeping the room warmer. But after about 12 hours the tape started to separate from the window seal and since you shrink the film to fit tightly you can’t redo it. Love the idea but sad it didn’t work.
