Product Overview

  • Ideal for use in raised garden beds and container gardening
  • Ornamental & colorful addition to you garden, beds or containers
  • Durable, long-lasting steel construction
G&B's Color Tomato Twists offer a creative and colorful alternative to standard plant stakes. Many plants are strong enough to hold themselves, but some can use a little help. Strong winds or hard rain can destroy certain fruit or vegetable-laden plants and some varieties that produce large fruits or vegetables require extra support under the weight of their bounty. These twists are constructed out of solid steel with a powder coated finish for durability. Colored stakes add extra beauty and charm to your garden and landscape beds.
  • Supports plants without blocking sunlight or rain
  • Available in red, yellow, blue and green
  • Plants easily adapt to this unique, twisted design, eliminating the need for stake ties
  • Multiple stakes can be used to support larger plants
  • Reusable season after season
  • 5 ft. tall

Questions & Answers

HOW MANY STAKES ARE INCLUDED?

Asked by: JOANETTA
When I went to HomeDepot they were on a rack and you picked out the one you wanted so I would say its safe to assume they're not sold as sets. I think they're around $4-$5 each. I also think it's totally worth it. I love mine.

how does this work?

Asked by: mano
I use these in pots with my tomatoes at the moment. I sunk the straight end deep into the soil right next to the plant so it stands upright. Then, as the plant grew, I gently wrapped the main trunk of the plant around the twists. This way the main trunk is supported while the fruiting branches can stretch out. It works great.

Do the tomato twists cause cancer?

I was reading on the tomato twists that I just purchased that the product may contain chemicals that are known to cause birth defects, cancer or reproductive harm. Just what is this chemical and is it safe to use to support tomatos. Thank You

Not only do these work beautifully, they are also much more attractive then the metal cages. I love that they provide support directly to the trunk of the plant and they don't get in the way when I'm watering. I have had many guests complement them. Plus, I live in an apartment with limited storage space but these will easily fit in some nook or cranny, I'll have do toss the ugly, old, clunky cages. I definitely recommend this product.

I like these, but there are two problems: 1) they need to be much taller (at least two feet taller) 2) they eventually need to be staked themselves (they need a "foot" support at base like a shepherd's crook) 3) wherever the plastic coating chips off, they rust immediately. at my local Home Depot every one was already chipped and rusted in at least two spots before even being used I used them early in the season to get my tomato plants started out in an upright position. Later in the season I had to add both a) "sister" stakes (I used rebar) to keep these upright, and b) traditional tomato cages to support the branches

I bought 8 of these at Home Depot , I thought they were a good idea for my tomatoes plants , I have limited space to grow my yearly vegetables plants. I didn't read the tag until I got home, They are powder coated with a chemicals that is known to cause cancer in the State of California which is stated on the back of tag. If you buy these check for the power coat chipping, some have already after looking closer at them, I may take them back to Home Depot. Also didn't think about until I placed them in the ground they make good lightning rods too. Which is not a good thing. Other than that it's a good idea, I would like them made with less harmful materials, like NSF-certified-Stainless Steel or strong Aluminum. They are being placed in the ground next to plant root systems , since the are vegetable plants this also may be a bad idea using the powder coated materials. H.D. I would have these checked out before selling them to the public next time. P.H.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super addition to the garden I've tried different ways to hold my tomato plants up and usually tie them to a lattice network of poles. I hate the cages (plus they are expensive and take up a lot of space when not being used). These tomato twists fit the need and they don't take up much room. I was surprised at how sturdy they are. Although I do have them stabilized and they are not free standing, they are just the solution I was looking for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too small Started off ok but my plants outgrew them very quickly. There are several main branches that there is no room for in the spiral and therefore they end up laying on the ground. This product would work well on smaller plants
