Product Details

Resistant oven glove (Commercial Grade) is flexible, provides all fingers grip, can withstand extreme heat and even an occasional flame. Perfect for indoor or outdoor use, for the oven, grill, stovetop, barbecue. Made of Aramid on the exterior and double knit cotton on the interior, this mitt fits like a glove. Do not uses wet as water would transmit heat to the inside of the glove. Aramid is a man-made textile with amazing heat protection characteristics. It is used by race car drivers, astronauts, fire fighters as well as jet fighter pilots whose survival depends not only on skills, but also proper equipment. Although aramid could burn when a flame is held up to it, the glove will stop burning as soon as the heat source is removed, which illustrate its flame resistant property. Aramid arranged in a thick woven structure is also a poor conductor of heat, which makes it the perfect oven glove material. Machine washable, dry flat, do not bleach.

Answer This Question

A:  I don't really know the maximum temperature of the glove. I do know that I've used these gloves to BBQ and cook up to temps reaching 500 or 600 degrees with no ill effects!

    These gloves are HUGE
Had to return these because they were far too large. They look like gloves someone would wear with a gorilla costume. See the photos I attached. Besides that, they felt good quality.

I've tested the glove in two different scenarios. First, I used this for a couple weeks as an oven mitt, taking pans, etc. out of the hot oven. It works well as you would expect, but certainly felt like a bit extreme for that use. Interestingly I also noticed if held a certain way, the edge of a hot metal pan will transfer heat to an uncomfortable level in sections of the mitt. Next I tested what the glove is actually made for - in a BBQ pit. I found the glove performed well in this environment, and there is definitely a nice benefit of being able to just use your hand to arrange coals versus poking with a stick. That said, my pit is rather deep, so at times it was a struggle not to burn other parts of my body! Overall the mitt is great - if you need a BBQ mitt this is a great choice - but at least for me - it won't replace the use of a poker as well.

This Heat Resistant BBQ Pit Mitt is more of “glove” than a “mitt”. I love to grill and smoke food. I’ve generally used very heavy fabric welding gloves for those things, which work well for protection from heat. This new glove is “ambidextrous” so I can use it on either hand, though there are times when 2 of them would be much better. It is highly flexible and has very good non-slip, heat resistant silicone palm and finger grip surfaces, though I'm not sure how long those silicone spots will stay adhered to the fabric. The outside is made of Aramid Fiber which is very highly resistant to heat. It reportedly withstands extreme heat up to 480 degrees F, but I found that my hand got quite hot at just over 400 degrees. Unlike some oven/ BBQ gloves it is lined with a cotton/poly material, to prevent sweaty hands. In addition to (some) BBQ chores, it would also be a good oven glove. However, in our kitchen, a double folded towel seems to be the most common way to remove hot things from the oven. Since I often need two hands, except for basting or turning, I’ll probably stick with my welding gloves for the heavy or HOT work. I can recommend it for SOME, but not all BBQ use.

This oven glove is thick. It's a one size fits all glove, but I'm not sure this will work for my wife since she has small hands. Fit is not exactly the right word, it'll fit, because the glove is stretchy, but if her fingers only go half way into the finger slots, she may end up getting the gloves in the food while she's trying to grab something out of the oven. Not the end of the world, but just a little messy. It's got a nice grip texture on it, and allows me to grab hot things out of the oven, or off the grill. I'd say it's a decent value for a man with medium to large sized hands using it for the grill. For women using it in the oven, you might be better off with a pot holder, or smaller mitt.
