Hello Max, this product is designed as roofing underlayment. Alternate applications, such as your installation are not recommended. Thank you.
It's definitely not 5.4 inches; more like the thickness of a couple of 3 by 5 cards. I tried looking it up on the manufacturer's web site, they don't specify a thickness. FYI, I liked using this material; I definitely felt more secure working up on the roof of my shed with this material down.
Tiger Paw can be used under a 3-tab roofing shingle and is also good for under metal roofing. Thanks for your question.
Monty, If you look @ the gaf website you will see mention of Tiger Paw product 'Moisture-Control Design" & it's ability to remove nearly twice as much moisture as the leading synthetic non-breathable underlayment. They don't really come out & say the material is breathable. However, they do have a product called Deck Armor, which they tout as a "Premium Breathable Roof Deck Protection"
Diego, From the manufacturer's web page on this product: "Tiger Paw™ Roof Deck Protection is water resistant, it is NOT WATERPROOF" This is an underlayment product. You have to install a real roof on top of it.
It’s because you overlay by 50%. This way, except for the very bottom which is where you start, there will actually end up being two complete layers. It may be overkill as it is a very good product but I did as suggested and very satisfied with the results
The product description does mention metal roofs.
This is not a bubble underlayment. It is about as thick as #30 felt paper
Yes
Since the ice dam is the first course of underlayment put on the roof, the tiger paw would be installed on top of it. The ice dam product I used, Grace 36" x 75 ft Ice & Water Shield, had marking on it to show how much of an overlap is required. See my picture
