Cutting the plug and attempting to hard-wire it will void the warranty, and this fixture is not designed for doing this. Any of our plug-in fixtures that can be converted to a direct wire application will explain how to do so, and require a special direct wire conversion box. I would say yes if you get the screws in there solidly with and insert or into the wood stud behind the wall. I would not try to screw it into the plaster or drywall because it will soon fall off. Turning it on and off will keep putting stress on the screws and the plaster will crumble. The weight of the light also can stress the screws.
