The freezer was cold very fast. The Fridge compartment took a few hours to get cold.
Not sure what you mean by a drip pan. The shelf will hold minor spills so clean up is easy. You can remove the bottom drawers to clean up below if you get something down there. you would need to be able to completely open the door though.
