Questions & Answers

Installation

This unit has a white, black and ground wire connection. I am taking out a stand lone outlet that has four wires and not 2. What would the connection be for the new outlet/usb port outlet
Asked by: pm
THE ANSWER Hi pm, Great question and Thank you for your interest in our 2.1-Amp 1-Outlet and 2-USB Port In-Wall Receptacle! In general, you would need to connect three (3) wires, Line, Neutral and Ground. Then, you will be good to go! However for your situation, if the old receptacle a GFCI, the 4th wire could be the Hot output of the GFCI feeding other receptacles. If the old receptacle has two (2) top and bottom outlets separated (one hot all the time and one controlled by a wall switch), then our receptacle will not work. Lastly, The 4th wire could just be a hot that is sharing a terminal to feed another receptacle. We always recommend, if you are unsure, please contact a certified professional electrician for your install. If you have any further questions, we encourage you to respond or contact our Customer Support through phone or email. Thank you, ByJasco Tech Support (Manufacturer) ============================================================== Thanks for the answer however the outlet I am replacing does not have those GFIC buttons nor is it controlled by any light switch. The house is 20 years old but all I am asking is how to wire this new USB outlet with 2 white and 2 black wires that are currently connected to the wall outlet? Thank you

Does it meet Apple requirements for 5 watts (5 volts at 1000 ma) for there lightning charger?
Asked by: Gdoggy
The lightning charger will work with the USB ports on this receptacle. Only cables need to be certified by Apple.

Is the outlet Tamper Resistant as required by the new code?

Asked by: RBS6611
Hello RBS6611, Great question and Thank you for your interest in our Outlet/USB In-Wall Receptacle. The AC receptacle on this product is a standard grounded receptacle, not a tamper resistant receptacle. However, we will soon make available our new In-Wall 2 outlet/2 USB port product, which does have tamper resistant receptacles (item 36064). If you have any further questions, we encourage you to respond or contact our Customer Support through phone or email. Thank you, Jasco Products Tech Support (Manufacturer)

Customer Reviews

2.1 Amp 1-Outlet and 2-USB Port In-Wall Receptacle is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great idea, watch out for noise... Actually a nice idea at a fair price. Note that these units MIGHT generate mild-to-horrendous RFI, hash, switching noise...potentially totally disruptive to sensitive receivers at a wide range of frequencies. Other than that potential, this type of "advanced outlet" could solve a few "where do I get power ?" needs, in homes and small business.
