GE 60 Amp Emergency Shut Off Switch
The photo on the website is not the actual box, but what we got is exactly what we needed for an emergency shut off. We needed a 50 AMP 240 volt emergency shut off / disconnect. The 60 AMP is fine since there is also a ground fault and a breaker in the home service panel. The pull type shut offs, as installed on many units and air conditioners, may make it difficult or confusing for some individuals to know how to open the box and pull the disconnect. That also takes more time. This box is clearly labeled so that service personnel or anyone that needs to quickly and with certainty kill power to the hot tub can do so. The bright red and clear labeling says ON and OFF. The handle is on the exterior. Should an emergency occur that was not related to current flow that would trip the ground fault, anyone can safely and simply pull the handle down to shut of all power resulting in all pumps, filtering, and lights being rendered harmless. We could not locate a suitable switch at most retailers, including their websites. The Home Depot website allowed us to find the shut off we wanted. Ordering was simple. Delivery was fast. Shipping was free. We hope the switch is never needed, but if it is, we are confident all code standards are met and safety is one down push of the handle away.
