While the timing mechanism and general electrical application appears to be well done, there are a number of problems with this unit. The primary issue is that the box construction is thin and flimsy. The hinges are of the same construction using a single pin for both hinges with folded metal to contain the pins. This hinge construction matches the flimsy box construction and the pins, if the box is inverted will actually fall out of the hinge. The 3/4 inch access ports located around the box require more than a considerable amount of effort to open/remove overly stressing the framework of the metal box. The electrical for this box is designed for 220/240 volts AC and that is also the voltage required to operate the timing mechanism. I would have designed the timer to use 120 VAC from one (1) of the two (2) AC "legs". Perhaps it was thought that the timer should not work if one (1) of the two (2) phases failed. In any event, this box is not worth the money and definitely not designed for use in hardy locations or handling. If selected for purchase considerable care must be taken on both the mounting installation and in removing the "knockouts". Exercising that care should allow you to "get around" the flimsy construction of the timer box.

The EH Series Electronic Time Switches provide control for electric water heaters with to-the-minute accuracy in programming and time-keeping. The use of a water heater timer allows the customer to shift electricity use to "off-peak" time periods to reduce utility costs. These time switches can be programmed for repeat daily scheduling, 5-day work week scheduling, weekend scheduling or individual day scheduling. Models are available for both 120 and 240 VAC applications.
Similar to the T100 Series, these time switches can also handle electrical loads up to 40 A per pole. The T170 Series Time Switches allow for up to 10 ON/OFF settings per day, but give you the additional capability of skipping days in which the loads may not be needed. Each time switch will come with one set of ON/OFF trippers as well as three skipper screws to omit the schedule for at least three days.
