Hello there, thank you for bringing this concern to our attention. We are very sorry about the odor you've been experiencing with your dishwasher. We know this must get aggravating so we're happy to help. First, we suggest removing the lower rack and checking for something laying against the black heating element. Sometimes plastic articles can fall on the element. They will get hot and melt. Clean the item off the element and it will be ok to use again. Also, make sure the heating element is cool before touching it. You said you already checked the unit so if this doesn't help, we recommend taking advantage of your warranty and scheduling service with a certified GE Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. You can do so by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737). Because the dishwasher was purchased less than a year ago, this service trip will be free of charge under the warranty. We hope this is more helpful. We're wishing you the best. - Guy@GEA

Cleans dishes well, but already rusting after 1 year
This was our third dishwasher in the last 10-12 years. The others had a very hard time getting the dishes clean, kept having to clean out the grinding mechanisms to get water to drain properly, etc. This dishewasher is easy to clean, and the dishes have been getting consistently cleaner than our previous dishwashers over the last 10 years. But after just one year the plastic coating on the racks is already wearing away and has started rusting. The edges of our white plates are now discolored. If they had a more resilient coating this would have been a great deal and I would have highly recommended it. But not now.

Great modern dishwasher for 2021
Purchased 5/5/2021. This is a great full-capacity dishwasher for 2021. It has plenty of space for 12 place settings on the top and bottom rack, as well as the silverware basket. I also like the wash cycle options. Our household tends to wash as we go, vs. piling in the sink. Much of what we put in the washer has been scraped and rinsed off beforehand. In that respect, we predominantly use the 1-hour cycle with the heated-dry initiated. In total it is about 124 min. for a complete wash and dry cycle. Please make sure to follow the mfg. guidelines for proper loading. Two very small drawbacks: 1.) I feel like I am using way too much rinse aid because the reservoir seems to be leaking. 2.) The wine glass holder/shelf snags on the internal rubber gasket in the up position when I pull open the top rack. See photos. I will contact customer service and my dealer about this. But no complaints on a grand scale. Very pleased with this product and time will tell how long it will hold up with use about every 48 hours or so.

There were several assembly steps that turned out to be more time consuming then expected. 1. A simple thing like hooking up the power cable and then closing up the electrical junction box took me 1/2 hour because it was difficult to see the metal tab that had to slide into the junction box slot. Totally not visible because of poor design. 2. The second problem I had was installing the two "Under counter" mounting tabs. The screws provided were too large (so I used my own) AND the location where this tab needed to be mounted was right over a plastic (tub) molding spot that I had to grind down to allow me to attach the tab with the screw(s). Please see the attached pictures. Otherwise the dishwasher seems to be working well. We purchased the GE brand in part because my dad used to work for GE. He started out right after high school in Schenectady NY plant, stayed with GE his entire life and finally retired working in the GE Valley Forge, PA complex. He kept reminding us that in those (Good old days) they called GE "Generous Electric". In his honor I still own some GE stock. And now you know the whole long story. Eugene
