It comes with the panel, so this model isn’t panel ready so you could put your own cabinet fronts on it. I bought a Bosch dishwasher that was panel ready, as well as a whirlpool that was also panel ready. This one is not.

Is it true that you have to ope the dishwasher door for the dishes to dry?

Asked by Mily January 18, 2019
1
Answer

Hi Mily- Condensate Dry is an energy-efficient drying system on some dishwashers, including GDT225SSLSS. With this drying system design, condensation will form on cooler surfaces in a warm humid environment. At the end of a cycle, while the dish load is still hot, the stainless steel tub walls are already cooling down and pulling condensation to form on the tub walls instead of the dishes. This provides natural air drying of the dish load. The use of a rinse agent ensures spot and film protection for dishes and assists the drying process. For proper drying, the dishwasher door must be opened immediately after the Clean light comes on. Keep in touch! Sue

Nice but soap pod compartment issues
Dishwasher is nice but the dishwasher soap pod doesn’t stay inside the compartment as it should

Beautiful dishwasher
This wasn’t my first choice, but because of my after-market flooring I was forced to go with an ADA compliant dishwasher. Of the options given, I’m very happy that I chose this unit. It looks great and the size difference is hardly noticeable.

Had to modify the top rack to accommodate bowls
This was the only option offered by my home warranty company and I feared the worst after reading several negative reviews. Strangely, I did not have the issues described for the one load that I have run so far. Everything came out perfectly clean and dry, even though this machine does not have a heated drying cycle. However, my very basic cereal bowls did not initially fit in the designated space in the top rack. The instructions show bowls perfectly lined up but in reality, those two rows of prongs are too close together to accommodate cereal bowls or the smaller sized bowls in my set. After much frustration trying to figure out how to fit more than 6 cereal bowls and 2 rows of glasses in the top rack, I tried bending one pair of prongs. It worked so I bent the rest and can now fit 14 bowls and 3 rows of glasses in the top rack. Using my thumbs, I bent each prong in the left row (back and to the left) and each prong in the right row (back and to the right). I would estimate 1/4” in each direction. I would have given 5 stars if I hadn’t had to reverse engineer the top rack and if it ran more quietly.

silverware tray bad design
The silverware tray really looks like a after thought in design. The silverware dividers for the silverware are not locking into the tray and pop out because the locking tabs are to small and lack the proper amount of pressure. I'm sure this washer was not tested with the silverware tray because a proper test would have failed.

Slighly Smaller
This GE dishwasher is quite a bit shorter that our previous GE model. During installation the leveling legs needed to be extended almost fully and now there is a noticeable gap at the bottom of our unit to the floor. This space will need to be filled with a white board.

Very Quiet!
Great machine that’s super quiet. Dishes get clean. Would have given a 5 but the kick plate design I requires me to have to do some trim work. See photo.

Doesn’t dry dishes!
The dishwasher came with the house and it works pretty standard. My biggest problem is that it doesn’t dry the dishes after the cycle is done. The dishes are wet after the washer stops and long after the dishwasher has been off. The drying feature is probably the second most important feature a dishwasher MUST have. Very disappointing.

Hi Olc1 - We'd like to thank you for sharing your dishwasher experience and giving us a chance to help. Here are some great tips we hope will resolve the cleaning issue: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17452 There have been changes to federal water and energy efficiency guidelines in recent years, which means dishwashers now run longer to ensure good wash performance, but they use less energy while running. For additional information please visit: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18914 We'll be sure to share your comments about the racks with our dishwasher design team for review. Thanks, again, for your feedback. We appreciate your business. Sharon@GEA
