Why does the oven keep going off for long periods? This is crazy I can't bake like this

Asked by Nicola February 21, 2020
1
Answer

Hi Nicola - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE Model # JBS460DMWW. Gas and electric ovens will cycle on and off throughout the cycle to maintain the set temperature. When the oven temperature has dropped below the set temperature, the oven cycles on again to heat and will then cycle off again once it is higher than the set temperature. The goal is to maintain an average set temperature, but you will see a normal swing in temperatures throughout the cycle. This is typical of ovens, and is factored into how recipes are created and used. If you feel your oven is not heating properly, visit: Oven Temperature Is Not Correct: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=19172 - We hope this is helpful. A qualified GE service technician is required for an accurate diagnosis. If you need further assistance, to schedule service online, visit us at GEAppliances.com or call 1.800.GE.CARES (800.432.2737). Please have your serial number and your model number available when calling for service. We apologize for any inconvenience. Keep in touch. We are always eager to help! Sue

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN THE TEMP IS WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO BE I THOUGHT THE LIGHT WOULD GO OUT WHEN I...

Asked by DOTTIE March 31, 2019

Answer

Hi Dottie - For those models that do not have a Preheat indicator light, wait approximately 10-15 minutes for the oven to preheat. The Oven Heating light lets you know the oven is turned on. Thanks for choosing GE! Keep in touch - Sue

Is there a clock on this stove, and if not, why not?

Asked by 3536madb March 20, 2019

Answer

Hi 3536madb - Thanks for viewing GE! The range is not equipped with a clock. Not all features are available on all models. We strive to offer a variety of models that suit everyone's needs. We suggest to view GE® 30" Free-Standing Electric Range JBS360DMWW. This range is equipped with an electronic clock and kitchen timer. You might want to pair with GE® 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven JVM3160DFWW equipped with cooktop lighting and two-speed, 300-CFM venting system to remove smoke, steam and odors or GE® 30" Under The Cabinet Hood JVX3300DJWW. Looks great with over-the-range microwave
It matches the new over-the-range microwave and like the front control nobs so not to reach over pots. Only one problem was to screw the ground wire which is located behind the white wire. Had to remove the teminal block to get at ground screw, then slide the 240 VAC wires into terminal block then attach block back to the range. Other than that, it went smoothly.

I didn’t like sensi temp technology because I need full high heat for cooking food and that feature automatically drop temperature in middle of cooking which ruined all my high height dishes

Response from GE AppliancesMar 18, 2021
Hi there, Thanks for leaving a review. We're sorry to hear about the burner issues that you're experiencing, we're sure that's frustrating when you're trying to cook. The coil burners will remain hot after you turn them off or if you change from a higher heat setting to a lower one. Food, like chili for instance, would continue to simmer after turning the burner down lower. If your burner is always at a high or low setting no matter what option you've chosen, then we'd recommend a service call to have this looked into further. They can be found here should you need them: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm Hope this helps and that you're staying safe. Michael@GEA
