Questions & Answers

Hi please i am interested in this oven, but my previous oven is is old one size 27" wide and i would like to know if i have to cut the marble ???

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Lucy
No, you can cut the stove or put the stove on top of the marble. If the stated width is 30 inches, what's the mystery. Duh.

Yes. Our opening was exactly 30" and it fit right in. It's actually about 29 3/4" wide.

I just got it today so I haven’t had a chance to use all the features yet, but it has them all confection oven five burner smooth top radiant burners with rapid boil and a warming burner. Can’t wait to cook something on it. Very happy with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ge 30 in self cleaning convection electric range i bought this because we redid out kitchen and it replaced a white ge 30 in convection self cleaning oven that i purched 15 yrs ago and absolutley loved. what an utter disappointment. first for that old white oven 15 yrs ago i paid 599.00 the cooktop to the day i retired it was pristine. this new cooktop? garbage! even if you use the cooktop cleaner you can never quite get it clean bc it has some sort of stupid gridding. idk what it is but garbage. so i resort to my non scratch scrubber and soap and water. now lets get to convection. the only thing this has is convection bake. useless. utterly useless. my 15 yr old ge appliance convection roast and convection bake. cooktop lets get to that. . seems like a large pit of water takes twice the amount of time as my old model. oven is good enough. how about what ge now calls accessories...the roast pan that have been included for years in all my ovens. thank goodness i saved my old one so i didnt have to buy an "accessory". as far as panel for controls and the knobs...flimsy. i mean omg GE what happened? just so incredibly dissappointed in the overall quality and features. works good enough but i know it wont last. only thi g thats nice is the black slate color. boo GE boo

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Timer Beep is Very Very Low I just had this Range installed last night I was so happy to purchase another GE Range since my last one lasted 18 yrs. I have to say I am already disappointed in the Timer function. It is Very VERY Low and I have Great Hearing. I called to see if there was a setting to make it louder and was told "in this model no" Wow :( my last one I was able to hear from upstairs this one I was standing next to it washing dishes and I was barely able to hear it I had to turn to see it was flashing. That's a bad feature to not have it loud enough... would burn a lot of food since I'm always multi tasking....... oh well now I'll go out and have to buy a timer! They might as well save money by not bothering to have that feature...... :(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Cakes & I Love this range! I would rather bake than cook, but I'm LOVING this whole range! My last stove was on her last leg and, sadly, we needed to part ways. To my surprise, this GE range was on sale! I wanted to get a double oven, but I didn't like it. That was when I was introduced to this baby. It has a convection fan, so all I have to do is press a button and a 5th element. I'm fairly giddy as I love to bake. Everything comes out perfectly and if my croissants were a little browner than I prefer, that was user error. I also can't believe how fast the oven reaches the desired temperature. It's fantastic. No more long waits. Overall, I am so pleased and look forward to a long, unhealthy(baked goods, you know)partnership with my new range.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Peeling Flat Top The heat inside is consistent & matches my thermometer. The stovetop is the issue. The layer underneath the glass flat top is already separated from the glass, so it looks like a ton of bubbles underneath. It has ruined our All-Clad pans, leaving this weird dot pattern all over the bottom inside of them. It is very hot so we never go over #5 setting. We actually don’t even use the stove anymore & just purchased two portable butane gas stoves that we keep on the top. I wish I would’ve just got a coil top since we don't have a gas line. Lesson learned. The top always looks dirty, scratched, has bubbles that look metallic under the black top, etc. I’m sad I wasted my money on this but I’m stuck with it now.

Bought this range beginning of march, in 5 days after 3 uses the burners started to get gray lines under the glass top, called ge and they sent a tech out and he told us this is perfectly normal because of heat under a glass top ,wow what a excuse, guess I should have done more research before buying a ge appliance, they used to be a quality product, not any more, so,I guess we're stuck with a 700 dollar range that the top will look like crap, and we also bought all new pots and pans for this range as to not damage the top, I don't under stand how he can say this is normal,I know many people who have smooth tops in other brands for years and they look like new, I,guess it's the ge way of making sure people NEVER purchase there products again like I,said at the beginning the marks are all under the glass top ,not 9n the surface, do,yourself a favor, BUY ANOTHER BRAND GE WON'T DO ANYTHING UNDER WARRANTY,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful features Choosing the element size on the large burners are very useful. It allows you to cook medium sized pots on the large burners instead of placing the pots on the back burners with smaller elements. Cleaning the cook top with the provided instructions and product samples has proven to be effective and easy. Having the option to choose convection bake and regular bake in the oven is another useful feature that allows me to select regular bake for custard pies and cakes, and convection bake for larger meat cooking. It doesn't have overwhelming features, just enough to make it a great buy for the cost and several steps above a basic range.

One dual burner on it broke down twice in the last year and we decided not to fix it. We are so much happier with this range--in addition to the features of the LG, we got a warming burner, a convection fan, and stainless finish at a great price!! The broiler unit is much better at browning meat and cooks faster. The burners heat up more quickly. The oven capacity is good. It was deeply discounted and an excellent value. Had an early Thanksgiving dinner and the turkey cooked very well. Haven't tried the convection feature. It's been easy to keep clean. Only negatives are as other reviewers mentioned, when preheating it doesn't show the temperature the oven has reached, the top scratches more easily than other smooth cooktops I have had (I was warned, thought I was being careful, and learned not ever to put enamel pots on it!) and the timer sound is too soft. The delivery team was excellent, extremely careful with it so as not to make a scratch. Purchased GE because of the excellent reliability ratings on consumer sites. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome glass top stove After our 20 yr old electric stove went out we were forced to replace it. Well we found that they just don't make electric stoves the same lol. We purchased a GE refrigerator a couple of years ago so I knew I wanted a GE. I've never owned a glass top stove before and I didn't think I was going to like it as much as the traditional coil element. Boy was I wrong. I absolutely LOVE this stove. It is stainless steal with a black top so my OCD works over time in keeping it spotless but its worth it. I've dealt with the GE service dept with out refrigerator and they are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove I recently purchased this electric range and am very pleased with it. It’s overall appearance is great, and the ease of using it is very convenient. It helps to have the manual, so I went to the ge site and printed a copy. The explanations for the various cooking choices are easy to understand, and I like the convection oven features. Before purchasing this product I read the reviews and also studied consumer reports so I knew I was getting a good product. The top burners heat up quickly, and it is easy to control the temps. Overall a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To Early To Tell I chose this oven for the following features: - Made in America -2 oven elements -Convection oven -Flat shelf above controls to place salt and pepper shaker -Price I have had this oven for 3 days and so far it has been great. The oven contains the heat better than the old oven, so the kitchen stays cooler. The large window looks nice when you are cooking with the light on. I am concerned with the glass top and how my boys will handle it. The extended warranty does not cover broken glass. Also the bottom drawer seems easily to get kicked by accident. The oven is easy to understand and function. It appears to distribute the heat evenly and cook better than the old oven, Although this seems like a good oven, I am hesitant to get attached, because, " they don't make these like they use to! "

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Range We've had this range for about a month now. The oven heats up very quickly and baking is easy. We've used the convection feature a couple times but haven't noticed a difference in baking time (strange). The burner size selection is nice but the burners in general take a bit of getting used to. They run very hot so there's been a bit of trial and error using the burners. The drawer on the bottom is large enough to store all my baking pans, which is nice. Overall, it's a nice range.

Happens to this model enough that GE support page lists things to try, none of which worked. GE Service (since 6 months out of warranty!) is quoting $305 to replace door latch. i.e., half of a new one! Customer service would only discount the part 50%, leaving $250 service call and repair. And that discount only brings the part down to what I can get the part elsewhere for!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features Wasn't sure if I would like the glass top but I do like it a lot. Took some time to get adjusted to the settings and oven since my old stove was 26 years old and also was a GE but 5 months later it was great purchase. Also we bought this particular one because we liked the Black Slate. We didn't want Stainless Steel appliances and we didn't care for the Black. When we saw the Black Slate we fell in love with it and it looks great in our kitchen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my kitchen range JB655EKES ok only have one thing I would change as it disappoints me..to pay this much for a range and have a timer so quite I cant hear it when standing right in front of it..if i were baking something I can not go in the other room or would never hear it..you folks should spend a few pennies more and and amke one that is loud enough for an older person to hear or just delete it all together..it is useless to me..at the very least a volume adjustment..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good basic oven This is a basic oven that replaced a 20 year old one. The flat top is hard to keep clean. I don't like that if you want to increase the oven temperature you have to shut it off and start over and it goes through the preheat again. I have not tried the convection oven as there are no instructions and the salesperson said to download the manual but it does not explain how to use that feature. It has worked for the basics so far.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Operationally I have no complaints, but... Even though I have been meticulously careful and diligent in the care of this cook-top, paying attention to all the instructions regarding cleaning and what pans to us and not use, I already have a couple of places on the burners where the glass is permanently marred within a couple of months use. I don't let any spills or splashes dry on the surface. I have no idea how this happened and am very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works great Love the slate look of this stove, have only had it 4 days but so far functioning well. My only dismay is a couple of the nobs don't sit completely vertical when in the off position, they sit slightly askew which makes the stove look cheaply made. The double burners are awesome so far. Haven't tried the warmer burner yet, but it's nice to have the option. Baked biscuits twice and they came out evenly browned.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so happy I was so excited I found exactly what I wanted five burner self cleaning with convection in the price. I could afford. I bought the stove installed it and within two weeks began to have problems. At this point we know it is the PC board and GE won’t have any new ones manufactured till the middle of August. So I will be without an oven for over 4 weeks. Plus buying the PC board for a new oven.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Doing fine so far. As long as we don't drop something heavy on the glass top it seems like a fine stove. Convection feature does seem to make some things cook better. Broiler rack options are either too high or too low. There should be another option between the top two rack positions. Range top is best cleaned with a special cleaning product if it gets sticky - a slight disadvantage over being able to use hot water and soap for all cleaning. Self-cleaning option seems to use lots of electric power, and still leaves an ashy residue on the bottom of the oven. Stovetop heating elements will be much more expensive to, and harder to, replace if they go bad than with a stovetop with coil-type heating elements. The wide range of heating element options on the top is good. In a year I could give you a better idea if I would recommend the stove. Value rating shown below is based on the sale price of the product when we bought it. It would have a lower value rating if we had had to pay full price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice range to replace my old one This is a good looking range that will now match the rest of my kitchen. The cooktop does cook "hot" so be mindful until you learn the nuances of your particular range. The oven is nice and big and bakes/roasts well. Anything in my house gets fingerprints so I can't comment on the "fingerprint resistability" of it. This is an adequate range/oven that does what it should do- cook food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Very pleased with this range. Oven is larger than my old one, only draw back to that is a smaller storage space on the bottom. Love the smooth top and the multiple size burners. Cooking times take a little getting used to (mostly faster and hotter) but that’s to be expected. Love the black and stainless look. It’s just what I was looking for in an electric range within my budget.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GE Range -Electric I love the range. Does the job. One problem I see is that liquid is getting inside the window panel of the oven. I’m a clean person and like my appliances looking well kept and new. How do I get inside (between glass panels) to clean this? I’ve only had the oven a couple months and do not want to have this continuous eye soar building up. Please advise on this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It does the job! I really like the look of the stove and love the slate color. It is easy to clean the back surface but the glass itself is harder to clean than my previous stove. The 90-second water boiling option does not work. I time it every time and it doesn't work. It takes about 5 minutes to reach good boil. Other than that it works just like any other working stove.
