My current Kenmore is not working, If I purchase this GE will the cord from the Kenmore fit this stove?
Asked by: Vee
Probably, but it's worth the $21 for a new one. The delivery crew installed the new one, and took the old stove away. The $20 for take away was well worth it.

We have had no issues with the SENSI-TEMP Technology, boils water just fine and no problems with the coils turning on and off like some reviewers state. Our cast iron skillets work just fine as well. I checked the oven temp with an oven thermometer and it was within 1 degree at 350 degrees. Yes, the oven is programmed such that it is considered preheated at 200 degrees. We just look at the current temp and wait a bit longer for it to get closer to the set temp. Of course the days of oven makers having a nice flat top of oven to store stuff on (lawyers probably say it's dangerous as stuff could fall off and into a hot pot and splash someone). So we just got a nice matching stainless steel shelf - and boom, we got out storage back. Yes, it is a fingerprint magnet. Only 4 stars for energy efficiency as electric stoves are not as efficient as gas / propane. The delivery guys were great and on time. Overall we are very pleased with this purchase.

I had 10 people coming for an early Christmas dinner. I planned to serve 10 pounds each of Prime rib and a spiral cut ham. The meats cooked side by side in this huge oven. All of the sides and 2 homemade pumpkin pies and an apple pie were baked in the new oven. I am really impressed with how the meats came out. I could not ask for a better deal on this oven. The oven seal is so good that hours after I turned it off it was still hot. I'm not used to that. Another thing I like is that the stovetop has been given some thought too. It has the old style burners, but the drip pans sit on a little rise that keeps any overboil from going down into the belly of the stovetop. I haven't done that yet, but I know I probably will sometime or other. This is a really good product for those who just cannot bring themselves to go to a glass cooktop just yet and it doesn't cost a thousand dollars either. Great value for the money.

Beware of any GE model with this feature - "Sensi-Temp technology reduces the likelihood of overheating food to the point of ignition; the burner element will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached." Stove top cooking is absolutely ridiculous with burners that shut off when they reach a certain temp. Impossible to cook anything that needs consistent heat for an extended period of time. The GE tech informed us that they've had many complaints about this model but that it is working "as designed". Very poor design indeed!

It is not the GE that many have trusted for decades. Trusting GE and checking Consumers Report, as well as reading online reviews prompted me to purchase this range. Immediately, I discovered that the oven preheat signal beeps at 200 degrees regardless of set temperature. It took 45 minutes to reach 350 degrees. It required an oven thermometer to know what the temperature was. I returned it for another one assuming that it was just a problem with that unit. The second one had the same problems. GE customer service told me that the preheat signal is timed and only means that the oven is hot enough to put food into it. Clearly, they do not understand what might happen to many items if baking begins at too low a temperature. This is a poorly engineered range. The oven is unacceptable and will drive any serious baker crazy. DO NOT BUY!! I am now the happy owner of a different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Is What I Was Looking For We needed a new range. I checked out the customer reviews from several sites for what I thought I wanted. I picked out this range. Then one day, my husband took me to our local appliance store. I knew we were going to end up with some floor model. Oh well. Then I saw it. Remember when, in the movie "Christmas Vacation" rays from the sky shone on the perfect Christmas tree in the Christmas tree lot? There should have been rays from the sky shining on this range. It was the range I wanted. I love the bigger oven, the dual baking, and especially the surface unit sensors. I am 66 years old; but when I was a young mom, I accidentally left a pan on the surface unit to run dry. It only takes one mistake like that. I really like the ideas of the sensors. And, white is my color. Why spend so much money on appliances which will never be able to be matched in color unless you purchase everything new at the same time. White is the best. I recommend this range. Oh yes, since the range had only been out of the box for one week, we bought the floor model.

After less than three months of use the stove needed service Customer service was difficult to contact and rude Gave a nine hour ( all day) window for service which they refused to narrow even on the day of service. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate the Sensi-Temp burners I'd love to give this stove a better review, as the design, overall features, appearance are all good. The oven is nice and big with 5.3ft3. However the Sensi-Temp technology in the coil burners is a deal killer. I thought they were a good idea, thinking that if you were careless and burned the pan dry, it would shut off. Rather, the burner cycles on and off automatically while cooking---even before your pasta or tea water has come to a boil. I'm a veteran cook; I know how to pay attention to the stove, and some foods MUST be done at high heat--jams & jellies, stir fry, etc. I wish I could just turn the burner down manually when I determine that it's too hot. This is the first brand new stove I've ever had at age 61 and now I'm stuck with it.

I manage a 33-unit apartment complex and have purchased GE electric ranges forever without any issues. If you see Sensi-Temp burners listed, run don't walk. Get any other brand that does not use this new technology. I had a GE serviceman come out and had him stand there while my tenant attempted to fry tortillas unsuccessfully for 20 minutes because the high heat went off and never came back on. He simply said what I'm sure he's been told to say to all the people that complain. "It's working as it was designed to work". It's NOT WORKING AT ALL!!!! Then he told me that she needs to use different pans. So now the new technology limits what pots and pans you can use??? It's a nightmare? Of course, once it's delivered you can't return it. I will be complaining directly to GE in hopes of getting a refund since it's a stove top that doesn't work properly at all. DO NOT BUY THIS STOVE!!!
