Hi Rosemarie- The recommended Circuit Breaker (Amps) at 208V is 30. Recommended Circuit Breaker (Amps) at 240V is 40. NOTE: Check local codes for required breaker size. We suggest to view the Quick Specs at the following link: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=JP3530SJ_c2.pdf - Keep in touch. Sue@GEA
I have a GE range in my cabin with a white radiant surface and another in my condo with a black radiant surface. The white surface is definitely easier to keep clean.
You can use either depending on your needs.
Hi SYM - Thanks for considering GE! The description "sealed burner" generally refers to a gas range. Gas burners are sealed to contain spills for easy cleaning. This is a glass cooktop, therefore, spills are also contained on the solid glass cooktop. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue
Very light
Hi Kevin- We are excited to hear of your interest in our cooktops! We suggest to view our induction cooktops: GE Café™ Series 30" Built-In Touch Control Induction Cooktop CHP9530SJSS- Flagstone gray and GE Profile™ Series 30" Built-In Touch Control Induction Cooktop PHP9030SJSS- Stainless Steel (PHP9030DJBB Black). They are not available in white. Induction cooking works by using an electromagnetic field to heat the cookware. This is very different from the traditional gas flame or electric coil cooking experience. Special cookware is also needed. Cookware used on an induction cooktop must have iron content. This is what makes the pan magnetic and allows the transfer of energy to the pan or pot you are using. It operates on a two part system. First, beneath the ceramic surface of an induction cooking product is a copper coil. When an electrical current is passed through this coil it creates an electromagnetic field of energy. Second, an iron core pan is placed on the cooktop. At this point the heat is activated around the pan. The surface remains cool until both these steps are completed. The video below further illustrates the mechanics of induction cooking. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/abhR28cZXCQ?rel=0 - Induction cooking only heats the area in direct contact with iron-containing cookware. This means that the induction cooktop surface not covered by cookware remains cool to the touch. See the following link: http://www.geappliances.com/ge/cooking/induction.htm - We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
