GE Appliances Energy Star dehumidifiers are designed to effectively remove excessive moisture for various dampness levels, offering optimal home comfort for you and your family. This 35 pint Energy Star Dehumidifier removes 35 pints of water from the air per day. This model is ideal for very damp room conditions, anywhere in the home, basement or bedroom. The Smart Dry feature compares the set humidity level with the actual humidity in the room and automatically adjusts the fan speed accordingly. This unit comes with a external hose connection for continuous drain option, or simply empty the bucket when it's full. The unit works best with a clean filter, so we'll remind you when it's time to clean it, ensuring maximum performance and efficiency. The adjustable humidistat allows you to set your desired humidity level anywhere between 30-70% (40% is recommended for maximum comfort). The soft touch control panel and LED digital controls on this GE dehumidifier let you clearly see and manage your settings. This Energy Star model offers 3 fan speeds, auto defrost control, and a 2- or 4- hour off timer, while pocket handles and easy roll hidden wheels make it easy to move from one location to another.

The hose must be lower than the dehumidifier to allow gravity to empty the unit. If you need the hose to be higher than the unit, you will need a unit with a built-in pump.

did you have it set at NONSTOP High-speed fan? That what I had mine set in the basement and seems to be working just fine. Also check pg. 10 of troubleshooting tips
In warmer weather, the ideal relative humidity in a living space is 40 to 60 percent. In cooler weather, it's a little lower, around 30 to 50 percent. When first installed, allow at least 3-4 days to remove moisture from the room to maintain the desired dryness. The Dehumidifier is dehumidifying the air as well as the moisture from walls and objects in the room. Note: If sized properly, a dehumidifier should maintain the relative humidity level that is set on the controls. The optimum relative humidity level for a room is generally between 30% and 50%. If the dehumidifier is oversized for the area, the unit may cycle on and off more often and some decline in performance could be noticed.
We recommend returning the unit to your retailer for an exchange. While it's not unusual to have a +/- 5% degree of accuracy to the control settings, the unit should turn back on automatically.
