If I use a hose, does the hose need to drain lower than the unit? In other words, can the unit be on the ground and drain up to a window or do I need a unit with a pump?
        ByJan 1, 2025
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

The hose must be lower than the dehumidifier to allow gravity to empty the unit. If you need the hose to be higher than the unit, you will need a unit with a built-in pump.

If the unit has been set to Non-Stop and no moisture has been collected, press the "-" pad repeatedly to set the unit to a lower humidity level. If the unit continues to run and does not remove any moisture, please review Page 11 of the Owner's Manual for details of the product warranty -- https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/85/8502766f-4af2-41f8-9f71-df8198967a68.pdf- Copy and paste the URL to your browser to view the manual.

Will the unit start working after the 24hr period of letting it run? It has not picked up a drop of water from our basement since having it run almost 24 hrs since purchase.

WHAT SHOULD THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY BE IN A 700SF ROOM BE.
                  ByDec 27, 2024
                  1 Answer |
                  Answer This Question

In warmer weather, the ideal relative humidity in a living space is 40 to 60 percent. In cooler weather, it's a little lower, around 30 to 50 percent. When first installed, allow at least 3-4 days to remove moisture from the room to maintain the desired dryness. The Dehumidifier is dehumidifying the air as well as the moisture from walls and objects in the room. Note: If sized properly, a dehumidifier should maintain the relative humidity level that is set on the controls. The optimum relative humidity level for a room is generally between 30% and 50%. If the dehumidifier is oversized for the area, the unit may cycle on and off more often and some decline in performance could be noticed.

The unit is se to 50%. It turns off automatically at 45% and drops to 40% on the display. The room is actually close to 50%. The main problem is that the unit doesn’t automatically restart. The room reaches almost 60% and I manually turn it back on.New unit

                    Answer This Question

We recommend returning the unit to your retailer for an exchange. While it's not unusual to have a +/- 5% degree of accuracy to the control settings, the unit should turn back on automatically.

                      E1 Code
Worked for a little over a year and now has the E1 code which appears to be an internal computer failure. Now have to buy a new unit after a little over a year and is out of warranty. I tried cleaning everything and still has E1 code. Poor product, don’t recommend!

Works great, I’d buy it again
So far so good. I got this after a small one was not cutting it. This thing fills up once a day, there’s that much humidity in my house! I got this one because my mom has the same one in Michigan to get the moisture out of our huge basement. She’s had hers for 5 years and says hers is still working great. The wheels make it easy to move and it looks nice. I’d recommend

I will never order an appliance from home Depot online ever again. Not only did it take forever to ship, but when it finally arrived it was beaten and damaged so badly because there was no packaging inside this oversized box to keep it from bouncing around and getting wrecked that the Freon from the unit had leaked out all over the box

                                    Broke 14 months after purchase.
Dehumidifier worked up untill 14 months. Then the light display would dim and a high pitch sound would come from the machine. After taking about the unit I saw the circuit board had water trapped between it and the thin piece of plastic. The board is right above the fan unit.

This GE dehumidifier worked well for 13 months. It now displays an error code E1 and there is no troubleshooting tip in the manual to fix it. Also, after searching message boards I can't seem to find a clear reset or fix for this error. I bought this unit last year to replace 15-year hold GE dehumidifier that finally collapsed. I was hoping to get maybe 10 years out of this new GE dehumidifier. It appears the current models don't hold up like the old ones. I would appreciate any advice.
