It is on the top of the oven interior. There is a fan in the center of the back side for distribute the heat evenly. I added a photo in case that's helpful.

Will my solid black GE microwave mounted over my new slate range clash?

IT is only 3 years old and fine, I am replacing a +14 year old GE glass top range currently black and white.
Asked by: Badlin
No, I think that would look nice. There are black elements, including the display and surface, that would work with other black appliances.

5.3 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Slate, Fingerprint Resistant is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 639.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, with a couple excpetions My only real complaint is that the light to show the surface is hot goes out REALLY quickly - before the surface is no longer hot. Also, there is only one light to show a surface is lit. My old stove showed which burner was hot. I called GE before purchasing and was told that it would show which surface, but it doesn't. The preheat is really fast, getting up to temperature twice as fast as my old oven. I also think the burners get hotter, so we are still on that learning curve to an extent. Also, it's great that there is a lip around the glass top so that things don't spill over, but there is a ridge you can feel with your nail. Any spills will eventually end up there. It's a nice stove but I wish the couple of issues weren't there - and that the GE representative had not lied about the hot surface light. It also did not come with an instruction manual - just a small pamphlet. Unless the installers (who I paid) did not leave it, this is something that should always be included.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fan of the Slate We are very happy with this range. I had hoped to find something that was Energy Star certified, but wasn't able to identify any stoves that qualified. Given that, I was sold on the slate appearance. It's great to have the sophisticated look of the grey metal. Stainless wasn't ideal for us because we wanted something that would be magnetic and not show fingerprints, so this model does the trick! My only complaints are that I can't figure out how to set the clock for the life of me (fortunately, my husband was more competent), it's a bit difficult to keep the cooktop looking pristine without the special cleaner that comes with it (but how nice that it's included), and the little ridge between the outer edge and the cooktop surface captures crumbs (this is really not the end of the world). I would recommend that you measure the height because it is taller than most stoves. Overall, it's a lovely addition to our kitchen. I think we may have to upgrade to the whole set...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice range I had a GE range comparable to my new one for 19 years. An while the quality of new ranges are not near what they used to be 19 years ago, this is a very nice range with lots of features. However, it does seem to be a step backward in some areas - to start the timer you need to push the timer button, set the time, and push the timer start button (my other one was a one-touch & set the time); you can barely hear the timer or pre-heat beeper when they go off; to start the oven takes a second push of a button to start pre-heating (my older range you just turn the knob to preheat to desired temp); also taller pans will not fit on the back burners because the control panel is too low to the range top (there is only about a 4 1/2 in clearance). I haven't had it long enough to use all the features. This is my first convection oven, so that is a learning curve for me as is the whole range after 19 years. Over all it is very nice and I'm sure it will take some getting used to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok so far Range arrived with small dent in oven door. The furniture place ordered a new one. It only has a burner on the top of the oven so that’s an adjustment. It heats well. Actually too well. I will need to get used to it. I do love all the size range tops

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has many features with a low price I really appreciate the ease of cleaning the oven and the stovetop. I expecially like the fact it is also a convection oven but wish the time and temperature were automatically convert when in the convection mode like some other brands do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New to convection ovens Cooktop works as expected, fairly easy to clean. Still learning about what foods to cook using the convection setting, seems it takes a bit longer than our old range to reach the pre heat temp? Pretty satisfied with the product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Attractive Appliance An attractive appliance with good features and spacious oven. The drawer does not operate on a track like older models - feels flimsy and not consistent with the stove's otherwise good quality.
