Is the cook top flush with the sides of the range or does it overlap the countertop like other slide-in ranges?
Asked by: Kabo
It does not overlap (I was unhappy to discover...why do they call it a slide-in?). It is flush with the sides.

Is the total depth 25.875 in, including the handle? This is less than previous slide-in models from GE (including handle). I want to make sure because I have a depth constrained situation.
Asked by: CP
The specifications of this model indicate a depth of 28.875 in, not 25.875 in

I think it is only storage. The oven does have a warming area on the top.

5.3 cu. ft. Slide-In Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Black Slate, Fingerprint Resistant is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 821.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek and Modern I wanted a professional range, but couldn't swing it. This was a model I had seen online and when I saw it on the floor in the store, I knew this was what I needed and wanted. There is plenty of room inside for a large turkey and some other smaller dishes; I love the features and display, the knobs on the front and the slide in. It is easy to use and program. It has 5 burners plus a warming zone. The front burners accommodate two different sized pans. I did worry about having to go and purchase new pans due to the ceramic/glass top. Additionally, I cannot use my cast iron pans; however, I did have some All Clad that works really well and I did purchase some additional All Clad. I am very happy with this range. I had a little trouble finding the cleaner for the top, but was eventually able to locate some. The manual mentions a special scraper for the top (which was not included), yet I have not been able to find one of those. I use the little scrub pad that was included and paper towel. These work fine.

I am getting better, but I did burn a few things. I really enjoy how versatile it is with all the burner configurations,. the only thing that i would improve on is the built in probe needs to have a longer cord,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from loving it! I was apprehensive about replacing my "old faithful" stove that had served me well for 27 years (& was already 10 years old when I bought my home), but the time had come. My new stove is a marvel, although, of course, there was a breaking in period for the operators, lol. The smooth glass top takes much less time to clean than dealing with exposed burners. The choice between convection & regular oven is nice. Haven't had any problem using my older, favorite cookware. The only change I would have liked, would be to have one of the large burners in the rear portion of the stove instead of both positioned in the front. It would be easier and safer for a short person like me to be able to reach small pots without having to reach over a large pot of boiling pasta or a simmering pot of soup or gumbo. However, this seems to be a universal design in newer stoves of this type.

After a lot of research, I replaced a 25-year-old range with this one. I was excited to finally have what I thought would be a good quality range. I cook most every day for my family, and bake twice a week. Home Depot installation crew were prompt and polite. I enjoyed the convection feature. I did find the glass top difficult to clean, but was slowly getting the hang of it. And then, LESS THAN 8 MONTHS after buying, the oven and broiler stopped working!! I contacted GE Warranty service, and after a week, the appliance repairperson came out and took a look. They could not fix it and said they had to order a part from the factory (WB26X29468 - Cooling Fan). They then said GE was unable to tell them when the part would arrive. I wrote to GE customer service, to ask if they could expedite the part, as I was very unhappy that my BRAND NEW oven had failed less than a year out. I received a one sentence reply: "Warranty parts cannot be expedited." No acknowledgement of a customer being unhappy, no apology for their drawn out warranty "service". So I have a broken oven that will be sitting for weeks, until GE decides if they are able to supply this item and if the repair company can manage to fit it into their schedule. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT, and especially poor customer service. I do not plan on buying GE again.

We spend weeks researching a replacement for our 10-year-old Kenmore with a broken oven door hinge, and finally settled on an upgrade to a model with a true convection oven. We've had it just over a solid week, and so far, we're delighted with how it looks and performs! This model (JS 760) has a huge oven, four surface burners with an additional "warm" element and a storage drawer designed to fit into a standard 30" cabinet cut-out. Ours slid into the cut-out like a hand into a well-fitted glove. Electrical hookup was uneventful, and when we turned it on to test it, it just worked. Surface burners run hotter than we were used to with our Kenmore; eggs fry on the 4 setting where we used to have to use 5. The oven heats up fairly quickly and baking is even and as expected. There is a slight hum when you turn it on -- apparently, there's a cooling fan under the surface to keep electronics from cooking along with your supper. My only complaint: the white model (and black, if you're looking for that) was $500 more than any of the stainless options. GE and Home Depot -- a great team to upgrade your kitchen appliances!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY After a lot of research, I replaced a 25-year-old range with this one. I was excited to finally have what I thought would be a good quality range. I cook most every day for my family, and bake twice a week. I enjoyed the convection feature. I did struggle with the glass top, it shows scratches and stains after every use and required daily cleaning to look presentable. The worst part -- LESS THAN 8 MONTHS after buying, the oven and broiler failed!! It has been sitting for weeks waiting for repairs. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. I do not plan on buying GE again.

Compared to my 17-year old KitchenAid that could not be fixed and had to be replaced this stove has practically just 2 burners. All the other circles are for show. The back ones are so small and crammed into corners that I cannot use use them, nothing fits there. The temperature range is not as good. Hot does not get hot enough quickly and low is not low enough to simmer. The oven is huge and takes up the space from the storage draw, I can no longer fit my pans there. Perhaps I will appreciate the extra space of the oven but I never ran out of space with a smaller oven. The design in not elegant, it looks cores and cheep compared to my old range that has a beautiful one piece control panel and a back lighting. This new stile has industrial looking cut out for the controls and bulky knobs. No light or backsplash to catch geese. Where are the old functional and elegant designs of year 2000?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love functions - DISAPPOINTING STOVE TOP I am thrilled with the slide-in look eliminating the high back which enhances beauty of the back splash over countertop. Also love all the bells and whistles. DISAPPOINTING, however, is the stove top, an absolute EFFORT to keep clean and I am still having a very difficult time getting a couple of small areas clean. Keep in mind I am a single person and don't cook for a family so this stove is not in 'cooking mode' much! I use the cleaning product provided by the appliance store where I purchased the stove. So, I guess I am stuck living with a stove which will never have a flawless cook top. I had a wonderful GE Profile Spectrum for many years and the cook top was easily cleaned and not necessary to clean every time used - I easily wiped it clean with a dish cloth. My new stove shows every tiny little spill and needs cleaning every time used, even if you happen to spill a drop of soup on it which doesn't come off by wiping with dish cloth. Would I buy again .... NO.
