Questions & Answers

Where can you purchase another fan remote control part fan61t-4sp.

Daveg

I have a long room, 45 feet, that is a living room, dining room, kitchen. There is a fan in the living room at one end and another in the kitchen at the other end. I guess they are about 30 feet away from each other. Can I replace them both with this fan and not have the remotes control both fans at the same time. And what is the range of the remotes please.

I have to be right next to the fan in order to get the fan/light to work.

dgatc1

Can the light bulb/kit be changed when the integrated LED fails, or does a new fan have to be purchased?

One of the benefits of LED lights is that they last. In the event it needs replacing, contact customer service at 1-866-885-4649 for assistance.

melio19

Can this be mounted on an angled ceiling with a longer drop down rod?

Yes it can. We have an angled ceiling and only have the 3" downrod and have plenty of clearance.

Bought 2 of these GE fans from HD in April as part of home repair project. Had them installed by a licensed electrician, who is personally known to us. He followed all instructions -- and neither unit has worked properly since. Units are designed to be operated by remotes (transmitters) using BlueTooth technology, and specified range of operation is 20 feet. However, neither remote will work unless held withing 18" or less from the fan housing, and we have 9 foot ceilings, so that means standing on a chair or stool. Additionally, sometimes the remotes won't operate the fans or lights even then, and we have to slowly work our way around the fans to find where the signal from the transmitter will actuate the receiver and switch the fan or light on or off. In short, the transmitters are useless, which makes the GE Adley fans useless. Tried contacting GElighting&fans customer support 3 times for help, but have yet to get a response. Last time was a week ago -- and we're still waiting. Contacted Home Depot customer service and the individual we spoke to said "maybe your electrician wired them incorrectly." Seriously?! That's the best you can do? It's the electrician's fault? So we're returning these GE fans to Home Depot for a refund and STRONGLY ADVISE YOU NOT BUY. Save yourself the endless round of hassle we've been going through for the past 2 months. Here's the description of issue sent to SkyPlug / GE Lighting & Fans Customer Service - twice: PURCHASED 2 GE 54" ADLEY LED CEILING FANS FROM HOME DEPOT ON APR 13 AS PART OF EARTHQUAKE REPAIR PROJECT. UNITS WERE INSTALLED BY ELECTRICIAN FOLLOWING ENCLOSED USER/MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS DURING FINISH PHASE OF PROJECT, APPROX 3 WEEKS AGO (WEEK OF MAY 27th). NEITHER FAN HAS WORKED PROPERLY SINCE INSTALLATION. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: FANS ARE DESIGNED TO OPERATE USING TRANSMITTERS. SPECIFIED RANGE OF OPERATION IS 20 FEET. HOWEVER, ON BOTH UNITS TRANSMITTER HAS TO BE HELD WITHIN 2 FEET OR LESS FROM THE FAN MOTOR HOUSING IN ORDER TO OPERATE FAN OR LIGHT. SOMETIMES WE LITERALLY HAVE TO WALK AROUND THE FAN UNTIL THE TRANSMITTER WILL WORK AT A SPECIFIC LOCATION. REPLACED BATTERIES IN BOTH TRANSMITTERS & FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS TO RE-PAIR TRANSMITTERS TO INDIVIDUAL FANS, ISOLATING FANS BY TURNING POWER OFF TO 2ND UNIT DURING PAIRING PROCESS. PAIRING STILL TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS & REQUIRED HOLDING THE TRANSMITTER WITHIN A FEW FEET OF FAN HOUSING, INDICATING TRANSMITTER OR RECEIVER PROBLEM OR BOTH. LED FINALLY FLASHED 3X TO INDICATE SUCCESSFUL PAIRING ON 1ST UNIT, AFTER WHICH WE POWERED IT OFF & WENT THROUGH SAME PROCESS ON 2ND UNIT. WE HAVE DONE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES BUT TRANSMITTERS STILL WILL NOT OPERATE FAN OR LIGHT UNLESS HELD 2 FEET OR LESS FROM FAN HOUSING -- AND WITH 9' CEILINGS THAT REQUIRES CLIMBING UP ON A STOOL OR CHAIR. THIS MAKES THE 3RD TIME WE'VE CONTACTED YOU ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY PRODUCTIVE CONTACT. FANS WERE PURCHASED FROM HOME DEPOT AND WE WILL BE RETURNING THEM THIS WEEKEND IF ISSUE NOT RESOLVED -- WHICH IS TOO BAD, BECAUSE WE LIKE THE FANS AND DIMMABLE LEDs. BUT THEY NEED TO WORK AS SPECIFIED OR THEY'RE USELESS.

Our bedroom is 12’ x 14’ and the light output is perfect for this room size. It’s a pretty natural “warm yellow” light, not the industrial blue, and bright enough you can see well with the one light fixture at night. I was replacing a fan with four bulbs we kept 60w lights in, so did a lot of research on lumens and such before I selected this fan – it worked out perfectly! This is the fourth ceiling fan I’ve installed in our house, and was by far the most user-friendly to wire. The sky plug tech works just as described and is a huge improvement in ease and safety from the old way that required hanging most of the fan on a precarious hook while you wire everything together securely. One installation tip: make sure you screw the blades in snugly and tightly. We noticed a bit of a rattle right after installation and assumed we needed to balance the blades – an hour later we realized we just needed to tighten the fan blades themselves a bit more at the base. Easy fix, and even easier if you do it right the first time ;) Once we did that, this fan is silent on setting 1 and 2, and on 3 and 4 there is only a little bit of air movement white noise. No motor to be heard. Makes it perfect for a bedroom where you want a quiet sleeping environment. Super happy with our new fixture!

Modern design and sturdy looking fan and light combination. I am impressed with the look and quality in this 54 inch Adley ceiling fan especially since I did not know that GE made ceiling fans. After a complete kitchen remodel which seemed to take for ever I was finally able to install this brushed nickel ceiling fan. Installation had a lot of steps but directions were easy to follow and fan went up with no major hiccups. The fan features the new and technologically advanced SkyPlug Mounting System to provide safe, quick and easy installation. This Plug in system eliminates complicated wiring, and allows the fan to be easily taken down within seconds but after having to take this fan down to have ceiling re- painted I can say putting it back up is not so easily accomplished. The shaft that connects into sky plug has to be lined up just right and inserted with a lot of force in order to lock in place which is trying due to the weight of this fan and the size. It has been working flawlessly so far and the remote allows you to control it from a good distance away even while sitting on the couch in living room. The LED light on this fan is bright but a tinted or alabaster lens would allow the light to illuminate the area fan is installed in better than the milk glass color that it is. This GE fan has a limited lifetime warranty on the motor which is a nice bonus.

This GE Adley fan is unique in how you wire it . the fan use's a power connector head were your power lead wires connect to it . it is very well marked so you don't insert the wrong lead wires to the proper connector .(see Photos ). The Adley is the Quietest fan motor when running that I have seen . the Adley also use a terminal connector wire system . so you add a jumper lead that's supplied if you buy and need a extension drop rod. I did need a helper installing this fan it is heavy. the led light is very bright and adjustable via the remote control. remote also control the 3 speed fan and direction of fan .

(What's this)
GE branded Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan A nice contemporary styled ceiling fan in brushed nickel. I've been slowly updating the ceiling fans in my house with more modern looking ceiling fans with remote controls This one has a unique mount they call SkyPlug. The skyplug (picture attached) has color coded connection screws for the supply wires (black, white, green) and once these simple connections are made, the skyplug is mounted to the ceiling box. The ceiling fan, once assembled, just pushes and twists on to the skyplug to hang the fan. Since I have recent experience hanging a couple of other ceiling fans, I found this electrical connection slightly easier than the typical fan, but the remainder of the fan assembly was similar to all other fans, and slightly more cumbersome than some. Looks: The fan blades are reversible. One side is a light tan wood grain, the other is a darker red/brown wood grain. We installed with the darker side visible. The brushed nickel motor/body has a round chubby appearance, and has a half dollar size GE emblem prominently displayed on one side. The metal arms that hold the blades are substantial/heavy, and attach easily, and actually curve away from the blade at the end of the bracket. Operation: The fan must be controlled by the remote control. There are 4 speeds, and the fan direction can be reversed from the remote control. When changing fan speeds, you can hear an audible "click" in the fan as the speeds are changed. The integrated LED light can be turned on or off, and cycles through bright to dim with the remote control. There is a button that will delay turning the light off for 5 seconds if you want to have light while exiting the room. The fan moves a lot of air, and is quiet (much quieter than our old fan) but you can hear a slight motor hum as it runs. Overall Opinion, this is a good looking ceiling fan with remote control that works well, and we are happy with the fan.

Very nice look with a modern finish, this fan is really nice. The remote works all functions, 4 speeds on the fan and dimmable LED light as well as reverse function. This even has a 5 second timer on the light to allow exiting from the room! So, it's connected via a "Skyplug" which is a ceramic fixture that you wire directly. I had to cut a smaller piece of each wire and attach the to the Skyplug, when wirenut to the house wiring. I tried using the wires from the old fan I removed, cut the wires at the fan (it was going bad) but the strand wire wouldn't secure. You have to use a solid copper wire to get the proper connection! I would give this about a 7 on a scale of 1-10 for installation, I've installed more easy ones as well as more difficult. The Skyplug does make the installation a bit more easy since you simply plug in a pin while mounting the fan via a locking switch. What threw me off was looking for the clevis pin and cotter pin, which in the directions said it was in the down tube.....and I discovered was attached to the motor there the connect.

(What's this)
I bought two of these, on bronze and one nickel, so let me start off by saying they look really nice and seem to function smoothly and quietly. However, I have installed many ceiling fans in my life, including one I installed recently in another room without 'skyplug technology', and it was not any more difficult than this. Before proceeding, note that my installation was on a approximately 14 foot ceiling, so I didn't expect the installation to be super easy because I was hanging off a ladder for most of it, but I thought the skyplug would make it much easier than it was. The installation problems start when you connect the wires to the mounting bracket on the ceiling. The screws that tighten to hold the wire down my have you searching for a very specific size screwdriver that is big enough to grab the screws, but small enough to fit in the small grooves surrounding the screws. A standard screwdriver is too big to use on this step. It's not a big deal, except if you have to run down 2 flights of stairs to look for a different screwdriver multiple times. It's a great design idea, but not sure why they went so small with the screws or didn't use push connections. Secondly, you'll later find out if you didn't read the instructions thoroughly, that if you use two switches on your wall (one for light and another for fan speed), they will no longer work with this fan...you must use the provided remote control to control all the functions. I'm not crazy about the fact that I don't have the option and now have to put a space filler where my dimmer used to be. You'll only need an on/off switch, which may be an advantage for people who don't have wiring run separately for fan and light. My installation was a little more difficult because I had to install a 24" rod extension only to find that they didn't include the instructions to swap existing short rod out, you have to go to the link they provide in the instructions...so another trip to my basement to use my computer. Luckily I've done this before, because a newbie might have issues trying to figure out what they need to do...and that simple install now involves some disassembly and rewiring to get it to work with the extended rod. The included instructions weren't very good either and would leave that same newbie scratching his head and cussing at least a few times. Once I got to the exciting part of actually twisting the semi-assembled light onto the 'skyplug', I realized another problem with the design: there is no real confirmation to let you know that you locked it into place properly. Yes, it turns and feels like it is snug, but I had no idea whether it was locked into place properly because there was no click or anything to let me know it was secure. This is pretty important when you are hanging a heavy object above the bed you will be sleeping on directly below it. I took it off and on a few times just trying to see if it was properly catching. The cover has 4 screws that provide a little extra security, but I'd really like to see something that could guarantee that this thing is not going to vibrate loose and fall on me in a week. When you install a regular fan (without skyplug), you can verify the connection method to make sure it is secure. The rest of the install was relatively simple, but for the price, I really would have liked to see the 'easy attach' fan blade connections where they clip onto the fan arms instead of having to be screwed in. Now that it's up, I can say that it's really attractive, the fan is quiet and there is hardly any movement even though it is suspended from a two foot bar and was not manually balanced. The remote functions aren't obvious, but are well explained in the instruction manual. Example: Instead of having up/down buttons for light brightness, they made it where you hold down the light on/off button and release when the desired brightness is reached. There are also 3 power buttons that aren't labeled...on for fan, one for light (also brightness) and another for a 10 second delay when turning off (not sure this is necessary). My point is you'd probably have to explain to someone how to use the remote when it should be fairly obvious. The remote does come with a 'holster' that you can mount to the wall. My final assessment...I think the skyplug technology doesn't really save you much work during installation, it's a bit expensive, you can no longer use existing wall controls (don't lose that remote), it does look good, it seems pretty quiet when running (although there is a 'click' when you turn fan on) and seems like it should last. I don't know what to do if the LED ever goes out though...you can't just replace a bulb. If you want remote functionality and you only have one power line running to your current fan or light, you'd probably really like this. If you want your existing wall controls to work, you probably won't. I'd recommend the quality and looks, but not the installation and lack of using existing control options.

"Dear Valued HomeDepot Customer, Thank you for taking time to give us feedback. We are happy to hear that you are pleased with the look and function of the fan. As far as the installation feedback, we provide detailed instruction manuals (with illustrations) as well as a short, helpful video on gelightingandfans.com to assist with installation. As you probably understand, there is a one time learning curve with the SkyPlug technology, which is common for new and innovative items. But now you are a pro! We hope you enjoy your fan for many years to come."

This fan is great looking and built really well! One thing that is nice is the installations first step is installing your power wires into the bracket that looks like a clock-spring. That way you dont have to hold the entire fan up while attaching the wires. Other than that its like a normal fan installation that if you haven't done it before hire someone. The quality of this fan is top notch and running on high you cannot hear it at all. The light is all led and is super bright! Only negative is that it has no mechanical controls its all controlled by remote. Which in some applications thats great. If you loose the remote or it stops working you will have to live with the fan and light in what ever place it was in last until u get another.

This review is for the GE ADLEY LED INDOOR BRONZE CEILING FAN This Adley ceiling fan is 54" the style is more sleek and modern looking but with the rich bronze color finish lends itself to many different home decor styles. Any room you choose to put this Adley ceiling fan, will just compliment the room. This ceiling fan by GE has some new technology called {SKYPLUG MOUNTING SYSTEM} it provides you with an easier quick and safer installation. What this does is eliminate having to connect many wires and allows your ceiling fan to be taken down or switch out with another GE Skyplug fan. And within minutes how simple is that. Optional wall mount Remote that can operate the fan and the light. This is a high performance Remote that operates a reversible motor. Offering you the upmost Superior Air Movement with 4 different speeds The blade pitch is 13.5 and your blades are {Reversible Walnut & Cherry} The integrated LED Light Kit power is 18Watts the Lumen Output is 1400 lm Color Temp is 3000. The Shade is a pretty white frosted glass. This ceiling fan is UL Listed. Motor warranty is lifetime limited. My husband says the Skyplug technology is very easy to install. All that you have to do is to hook up the Black, White, and Green Wires from the Ceiling Box. Then you mount the skyplug with 2 screws. The remote system for the light and the fan is integrated into the fan assembly. This Ceiling Fan has no switches with chains or a switch for reversing air flow, this is all functioned by your Remote. Making the fan more sleek of a design. We recommend that you do watch the video at the GE Website, it is very useful and will help with understanding how to install this ceiling fan. After owning this Ge Adley Ceiling Fan, we highly recommend this Ceiling Fan, to anyone looking for a Ceiling Fan with Superior Air Movement.

(What's this)
This is an impressive looking fan with silky smooth movement probably attributable to being much heavier than normal resulting in significant resistance to being able to "wobble." There is however a learning curve to the installation process. As an electrician I have installed dozens of fans in my time but never anything quite like this. I had two to install... spending time figuring out exactly what was intended resulted in the first one taking an hour and a half... the second one was accomplished in about 30 minutes. What I didn't like at all is that attaching the fan housing to the ceiling mount requires both hands at the very top of the mount to be able to insert the engaging pin and then rotating the unit into the locked position. The unit is heavier than the average fan and not being able to have a hand free to support and steady the assembly from its bottom portion was disconcerting at best and made me fearful of dropping the whole thing while being up on a ladder. I strongly suggest having a helper to help support the unit when attaching. I managed with these two since I was under a time constraint and no one was simply available... won't let that happen again though. I noticed some reviews complained of the light being rather dim while others (including myself) found the light very bright. Maybe re-syncing (pairing) the remote would cure that problem? Speaking of remote operation I do like the ability to be able to reverse the fan without climbing a ladder. But what I'd really like to know is just exactly why a quick disconnect feature for a ceiling fan is advantageous? I can't recall ever taking down a ceiling fan other than to replace it or to refinish a ceiling... how often does that happen? Is having a ceiling fan complement your latest evening wear a new trend?

"Dear Valued HomeDepot Customer, Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are happy to hear how much you like the fan and that you quickly picked up on how easy the installation of the SkyPlug is. The advantage of the SkyPlug quick connect is that you now have options to easily take it down for cleaning, remodeling, maintenence etc. Before, you wouldn't have because of the complicated wiring, but now you are free to move the fan (with the push of a button!) as needed.
