Does anyone know if you can just use the dryer cycle on this dish washer also not drying well two issues with this model!!!

Asked by 007 August 1, 2020

Answer

Hi 007 - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE Adora Model # DDT595SSJSS. We are sorry to hear your dishwasher is not drying well and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. While the dishwasher does not have a "dry only" cycle, for best results, select Heated Dry On and Wash Temp Boost or Sani options. Make sure inlet water temperature is at least 120°F. Leave door closed after the Clean light appears to allow the fan to run an additional 90 minutes. If you open the door, this fan extension will be cancelled. Check the rinse agent dispenser and fill as required. Add a high quality rinse agent such as Cascade® Platinum™ Power Dry™ Rinse Aid or Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid to the rinse agent dispenser. Can you take out the top rack

Asked by Bernie March 20, 2020

Answer

Hi Bernie - Thanks for considering GE Adora! The third rack functions as a utensil drawer for flatware, cooking/serving tools, or other small items. The third rack is easy to remove and carry to your utensil drawer to unload or to allow extra large items to be placed in the upper rack. With the rack fully extended, simply lift the front of the rack so that the rack roller wheels clear the retaining hook. Continue to pull the rack until the remaining rack roller wheels clear the retaining hook. Play Video: https://youtu.be/LUK8CrCLFbs - Keep in touch! Sue

Is there any way to adjust the door?

Asked by Debbie December 20, 2019
5
Answers

Hi Debbie, If your dishwasher door is not aligned or appears to be crooked, it may be because the door has come off one of its hinges. A misaligned door can cause leaking from around the door. To verify, open the door slightly and check both hinges. To correct: 1) Open door slightly to about a 15 degree angle from the tub. 2) Lift the door and move it back onto both hinges. 3) When the door fits into place, you will hear a loud click. The door should now open and close freely. 4) If the door is not opening and closing smoothly, repeat the steps. If this does not help then you may need to contact service. We hope that this helped! Thank you very much for your question. -Michael

The start button is stuck down and becoming difficult to press. Is there a way to clean it or pop it back up?

Asked by jocelyn December 7, 2019

Answers

Hi Jocelyn, If you are wanting to clean your control panel, we would recommend that you use a clean, soft, lightly dampened cloth. Make sure that you then dry thoroughly. A little dish soap may be added to the cloth if needed. However, if you find that the start button has become depressed and will not come back up, you may need to see about potentially having the control panel replaced. Should you want to take a look at your warranty, you can see pg. 25 of your Use and Care Manual, here: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/df/dfa03011-e743-4357-9f6b-6d9d2c48c1f5.pdf - We hope that this helped! Hello YCH. Water settled in the bottom of the dishwasher at the end of the wash cycle is normal. This water helps to keep the pump seal lubricated. Water should not be as high as the front of the center raised island in the bottom of the tub.If there is excessive water in the tub at the end of a cycle, you may have a draining issue and we recommend service. To schedule an appointment, you can reach our scheduling department at 1-800-432-2737, Mon-Fri 7 am – 10 pm ET, Sat-Sun 8 am – 6 pm ET. Thanks for checking. Olga

Does it have a China, crystal cycle?

Asked by Maria October 23, 2019

Answers

Hi Maria - The "Light" cycle is safe for china and crystal with no options selected. For reference and description of the various cycles, see page 7 of the Use and Care Manual at this link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55119-2.pdf - China is normally safe to wash in your automatic dishwasher. However, antique, metal trimmed, hand painted china or over-the-glaze patterns are vulnerable to fading with high water temperature and detergent solutions, and therefore should not be washed in a dishwasher. check with the manufacturer of the chinaware, or test wash one piece daily for at least one month for comparison with the rest of the set. Be sure to load the china items securely to prevent movement during the wash cycle. This will help minimize chipping or breaking. See DISHWASHER - WASHING CHINA: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=19593 - Thanks for your interest in GE Adora! Sue

I bought this dishwasher two years ago and it’s been breaking since day one. The start button broke the first time we pushed it but we were too lazy to return the dishwasher after installing it so we lived with it. Over the next year the molding around the control panel broke off. There were plastic pieces on the racks to keep them from sliding out. They’re gone? The plastic holding the silverware basket together broke off. I wouldn’t recommend this cheaply made appliance. Cleans fine, doesn’t dry top rack, really long cycles.

GARBAGE -Don’t waste your money!!!
UPDATE FROM ORIG. REVIEW: Purchased in April 2017 to replace an 11yr. old GE that was fading out -should’ve kept it. This machine never fully cleaned dishes/silverware & left white residue on items. Also left everything wet. Water stays in trap & it smells! GE said to re-set cycle options. GE service tech came out & said we needed to clean fine filter screen & sprayer arms every week-Not Stated in Owner’s Manual. A MACHINE DESIGNED TO CLEAN DISHES SHOULD NOT HAVE SUCH ISSUES. WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GE!!

Lasted one year and one month. Then the soap dispenser stopped opening and the middle (upper most) spinner stopped working. At one year and two months the door broke. Warranty only good for one year. The most unhelpful and surly customer service rep at the 800 number (even though I was pleasant and courteous). I was calling to confirm that the warranty was only good for one year and instead of telling me she told me to read my user manual. My last, very basic, Maytag dishwasher worked just fine for over 16 years.

Just two years after installation, the unit will not start due to a faulty control board. Worse, the control board is out of stock everywhere, which says something about how many of these things must be failing. I'm very disappointed. When it worked, it cleaned well, and we liked the many nice features such as the third rack and stainless tub. It is suppose to be quiet, and I suppose it is to some extent, however the motor makes a high pitch whine that is quite annoying. When the control board was removed, we found evidence of leakage of some sort of oil or grease under the machine. That is concerning. I recommend choosing another brand based on our experience.

Very pleased with my choice of dishwasher. This was replacing an old (still sorta working) 20+ year old GE dishwasher. Looks great and compliments the other GE stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. Dishes, flatware, glasses, etc are cleaned and sanitized like never before. Home Depot delivery was very prompt and their contract plumbers were very professional. All in all a very pleasant experience and would highly recommend to anyone needing to replace their dishwasher. Lastly, the energy star certification makes it a wise consumer choice.

So much quieter than my old machine!! And the dishes come out spotless. Love the third rack on top for silverware and utensils. Has a larger capacity than my previous machine too. Cannot say enough good things about this machine! Buy it, you won't be sorry. The controls on top is a brilliant idea and there are a lot of options to choose from, yet it is simple to operate. Well designed and well priced too.

First model I received had the plastic "door shut" indicator tab snapped off, so it wouldn't run. Had to wait another week for a replacement unit - ironic that a small plastic piece would render the whole inoperable. Flash forward 9 months later, the other plastic piece on the inside of the metal door (a threaded circle-shaped vent cover) pops off every other time we run it because the metal door expands and contracts due to temperature of the wash cycle. Problem is there isn't enough thread depth to keep it in the door. It pops off, slides down by the heat elements and melts, then water leaks through the open hole and all over the floor. Now the little flap for the soap doesn't open during the wash cycle, and it's stuck on "rinse." Really hoped this would've been a great upgrade from our last one - but now after two faulty units in a year's time I'm seeing that's not the case.
