Questions & Answers

does this oven cook with convection and conventional methods?l8+

Asked by: linus
I bought this oven one month ago and I do not recommend anyone buy this oven.! I have been baking cookies for Christmas and on regular bake the cookies should have baked in 10-12 minutes they took 17-20 minutes. I tired convection bake and the cookies took 15-17 minutes.. I am not happy ! GE told me cookies should have baked in 6 minutes on convection. Stay clear of this oven!

If a manual came with my range, it was apparently throw away in the packing materials. How do I get a manual (hard copy, not Internet).

Asked by: Chathappy1940
Ours didn't come with a proper owners manual either, so I called the company and apparently it is intentional to not include one. They said it's because many people throw them out, so they decided to go green and not include them automatically. They will, however, mail you one for free if you call and request one. Or you can download it, view it online, or print yourself a paper copy.

HI, does the oven light automatically come on when you open this oven door? Thanks

I had heard that the GE Model JB650 doesn't automatically provide an automatic oven light and you must turn it on manually each time so I was wondering if this was the same for the Adora model? THANKS

Adora 5.3 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Black Slate, Fingerprint Resistant is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 641.

Bought the whole set a few years ago for a remodel and it sat in the boxes for a year. Once I was able to install it, things looked good and for the most part cooked well for maybe a year. Unfortunately the top scratches so easily and always looks like it's years older than it is. It's just the two of us so I don't do a lot of cooking. My major frustration is that stove will not hold the temp. I have to turn it off and reset the temp every half hour. This makes it impossible to cook anything to time such as roasts or baking. Very Frustrating. Had somebody come out and look at it and the part supposedly is almost as much as a new stove. Debating now whether I want to take advantage of just replacing it with the same thing or looking into something else. As others have mentioned the whole suite isn't all that great. The fridge is noisy as well as the dishwasher. So far no complaints on the microwave although don't use it for much. I have no idea what to do. This stuff isn't cheap.

It has a few things that you should know. If you use the back burners very often, there is a problem. You cannot use a pan with a lid on, because the lip that has the knobs on it, hang over too far, and the pan sits under the lip. The steam for whatever you are cooking goes up to the knobs. I don't use mine very much, but if I ever get another range, will be sure to check that. The oven is great on plain baking or convection. The dual burners are great too, except I think they should be switched. The bigger one is on the right, so if your pan has two handles for lifting, the small handle is over the burner on the left, which is not a problem, unless you are using two skillets. I agree with the reviews, the cleaning sucks. It shows everything. Best so far is to wait till cool, clean with soft rag with soap and water, then wipe clean. The polisher just makes everything show up more. So I polish it about once a week, otherwise, this is a great range. It's beautiful and looks great in my kitchen.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I do not adore the Adora My Adora was installed late November, 2015. I wish I had heeded the few remarks about it being difficult to clean. My previous stove had a black speckled top - it looked pristine for almost the entire 19 years I used it and cleaned easily with a little Bon Ami. This stove top has changes to the surface where things have spilled. Perhaps if you barely use a stove... and never drop a drop of anything on it, it could stay looking nice. After I clean it, if I leave the light off, it looks fine (until the next use) but if the light above the stove is turned on the surface looks diseased. The product enclosed with it for cleaning doesn't do the job. If I rub my finger over the changed areas I can feel that it is completely clean - just cloudy looking - no matter how much I rub or scrub. If you want a stove that looks nice - and you eat out more often than not - and most of your cooking is done in a microwave... this might be fine for you. If you cook... really cook... and occasionally have a boil over or a spatter... look elsewhere or be unhappy with the way the top looks after a short while.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate This Stove I was excited about two years ago, for the first time in my 40 year married life, to be able to purchase matching appliances. This stove was part of it and at first I loved it. Looked nice, had a convection oven with self cleaning, quick boil, warming area, etc. I am a stickler for cleaning the smooth tops-mine is ALWAYS clean. Unfortunately this stove is nearly impossible to keep looking nice. It has scratched terribly after only 1.5 years. We have checked all our pans and that is not the problem. We also had another smoothtop that hardly ever scratched even over 6 or 7 years. The top is hard to clean even with the special cleaners. It stays smeary. And now there are places that are hard to explain, but look like metal deposits underneath the glass. With special cleaners and vigorous effort they can be removed, but who wants to work that hard. I hate this thing everyday and we are actually going to look for another stove. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!

We just bought this stove in a suite HD had on sale a few weeks ago and have been really pleased with it so far. Love the glass cooktop which is really easy to clean and the extra eye/burner. I also love the warning light on the cooktop to let you know when the cooktop is hot. Getting the oven going was a little confusing since we didn't read the instruction book...LOL! I do wish they'd finished the oven handle with the same fingerprint resistant material. Great product for the price!!

I love how quickly the burners heat up, as well as the instrumentation and their locations on the range. In general it has many very nice features, which as time goes along, will be wonderful to have. This is however, the first range I've had with a glass heating surface, and I'm not a big fan of how careful I have to be to avoid scratching it (but I'm sure that's just old fashioned me, so I'm rating it 5 stars).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed The cooktop is a solid black, just smears, no matter how many times cleaned and wiped with cooktop cleaner/cloth. Just putting clean pot or pan on burner causes marks. Cannot get marks off. Range always awful looking, smeared. I replaced a working range when I moved here just to get the slate color and to have a nice, perfect cooktop to start with, but this one looks worse than old one!

I purchased this stove less than 8 months ago and the cooktop failed this weekend. I had noticed that it previously took a while for the burners to heat up. I had purchased this same stove 5 years ago for a different home and loved it. Very dissapointed this time around.
