Q:Will it work if I need to seal my standing glass shower without compromising integrity? I have a family of 4 can?t wait 24 hrs to shower
by|May 24, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Thank you for the question. Exposure of GE Advanced Silicone 2 Kitchen and Bath Sealant to water is possible in 30 minutes but only with a bead size maximum of 3/16” (4.8 mm), a temperature minimum of 65°F (18.3°C), and a humidity minimum of 50%. If sealant beads are larger, then the sealant should not be exposed to water for at least 8 hours, understanding that best results are obtained after 24 hours. Do not touch or clean the sealant for at least 24 hours, or until fully cured. Only you can be the judge in this situation. We can only provide the guidelines and what possible results you might experience.

Q:Mold free caulk
by|Mar 30, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Thank you for the question. GE Advanced Silicone 2 Kitchen & Bath Sealant, when cured, is resistant to stain-causing mold and mildew. However, regular cleaning of the sealant is required, as soap and other residues can cause secondary mold and mildew growth to occur on the surface of the sealant.

HORRIBLE
I purchased two tubes of this product to seal around my bathroom windows.
I cleaned the surfaces and installed with caulking gun as normal.
When I went back, it had liquidifed and "LITTERALLY" run down the window like runs with paint.
I DO NOT recommend.

NOT SOLID WHITE
It’s translucent white not solid white. It’s annoying I bought it to match existing caulking but now have to return and redo everything .
Old White caulk on left
This brand translucent “white” on right

Cures Radioactive Green
First problem. It's not opaque white, it's translucent white. So if you're trying to touch up pre-existing finishes it's not suitable. Any old discoloration will show through.
Second problem. It looked great the first week I came back. Second week of curing, it turned iridescent lime color.
Never been a fan of GE silicone vs. Dowsil, Novaflex, etc. Etc. But this definitely makes me not want to pick any of their product line again.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Best practice dictates that the removal of existing or old caulk should be done to achieve the best performance as instructions on the tube indicate. If the product turned yellow, there may have been a compatibility issue. If you ever need help using our product, feel free to reach us at 1-877-607-7407.

This is so much better than the latex kitchen/bath caulk I've used for years. This goes on nicer and brighter and doesn't yellow like the latex. The only con is that it's a little harder to clean up.

The GE white silicone 2 plus kitchen and bath sealant..... Several reasons why I choose this product. First I like that it's waterproof in just a half an hour . It goes on easy, plus it has a snap on cap if you don't need to use it all for one application. And that it comes in almond, white and clear. I've used this product in one of my showers and that's been over 2 years ago,no mold no mildew. The product holds up really well, and clean up is a breeze. The only downside is if you want to paint it, is that it's non-paintable.

This 10.1 oz. White Silicone promises that 10 years no mold but i got it after 2-3 months I used it. I knew it is impossible for 10 years no mold on any product but i wasn't expecting it will show up in couple of months. I used it to seal our bathroom sink, the sealing aspect of the product works well no water leaking, but the look is awful. I will not buy this product again. They claim this comes with lifetime warranty but who would go all the hassle and paper work for $6?

Thank you for your review. GE Silicone 2+ Kitchen & Bath offers 10 year mold-free protection. Please note cured sealant is resistant to stain-causing mold and mildew. Regular cleaning of the cured sealant is required however, as soap or other residue can cause secondary mold growth.

You can't go wrong with Silicone 2 for sealing up a bathtub. A lot of people will suggest the acrylic and other blends, but IMHO, you really can't improve on this. Take your time, and you'll have a great end product.
