You would need a water connection kit. Good luck.

Do you need to install an air gap with this unit?

Hi AJ- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing! Some state or local plumbing codes require the use of an air gap between the built-in dishwasher and the drain system of the home. This plumbing device is used to prevent the possibility of back flow into the dishwasher in the event of a clogged drain system. For complete details, see page 4 of the Installation Instructions at the following link: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/1f/1f7c59a9-fbb7-4c04-9e45-16b67d90ce13.pdf - Thanks for checking with us!

Hi Cristina- We certainly appreciate your loyalty! This dishwasher can be installed beneath a sink (6" maximum) to maximize cabinet space. Sinks are sold separately. Please check with a Home Depot Sales Associate. Either single- or double-bowl sink may be used, centered or offset, as shown in the illustration at the following link: https://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/18/182b49da-7bc6-4663-ae84-e299e5568b12.pdf - Thanks for checking with us! Newer model, lesser features
Customer review from geappliances.com logo
This unit was purchased to replace an older model that had seen better days. While it does run quieter than the previous model, the redesigned lower tray makes it much more difficult to fit our dishes then the previous tray. The locking mechanism for the door is also much less sturdy, and the soft touch buttons on the front panel feel as if they may come loose at any time. in addition to all of this, it seems to take longer to run a lower than the previous model. So this leaves us with a dishwasher that takes longer to run, and can fit fewer dishes per load. It was nice to find this model available for purchase, considering we cannot fit a full-size dishwasher in our current space, but the minor differences in features compared to the previous model are something of a disappointment.

Poor redesign. This is my third GE Spacemaker dishwasher. The first lasted 24 years. The second lasted 10 years. I have had this one for about a month. If you are looking to save space on a dishwasher, this model is a decent choice. It does save space, and it does get the dishes clean. However, the latest model has one annoying fault: the redesign of the lower rack. Now, if you place cereal bowls in the deeper outermost recesses of the lower rack, you cannot place dinner plates in the next row, or the water flow will be blocked from the bowls. In some of the rows, my ordinary (10 1/2 inch) dinner plates rub against the upper rack. It is possible to work around these issues, but overall, with these new shortcomings, the capacity of the lower rack is diminished. It disappoints me that the previous models were more to my liking than the new one.

It is a great dishwasher!
I had this dishwasher installed today. The installers were friendly, kept me informed and of course took my old dishwasher away. I ran the dishwasher today and it works great. My only issie is that there is an oder when it is running. I heard it is common and it will go away after a few was cycles. I even took the 5 year protection plan! A lot of people say that it is noisy but it is not any nosier than any other dishwasher i had. Makes noises just like a washer would.

We've had the prior model for three years - the plastic finish on the tray is worn out on the points, and there are spots where it is beginning to rot (not rust - rot - the metal is boiling up and flaking apart). The body is cheap injection molded plastic - why does it cost so much then? Novelty The plastic internal sprayer becomes brittle and the retainer clip broke while the GE technician was clearing a clogged drain (the clog was our fault). Resulted in what would have been a very costly repair had we attempted to clear it ourselves... Over all it's an intriguing design but the quality is so poor I would sacrifice cabinet space for a better made dishwasher and save your money and disappointment on this one.

Very, very slow, and way expensive - GE is taking advantage of having the only model that will fit under the sink. Kind of highway robbery and the product should be better for this high cost.

Cleans good, but doesn't hold much
Customer review from geappliances.com logo
We received this dishwasher as a replacement under our home warranty plan. This dishwasher is not installed under a sink, it is installed under a countertop, so the spacemaker top rack is useless for us. You can hardly fit anything in it. I would not recommend this model.
