Questions & Answers

How long do these RPWF filters last?

Asked by: Hollyhug
They say 6 months, I get about 4 months

My refridgerator GEProfile calls for RPWF filter could I use RPWFE??

What is the difference between RPWF and RPWFE??? Can I use either???
Asked by: COCO
The only difference between RPWFE and RPWF is that the RPWFE includes a chip that the fridge uses to monitor your filter. They make it sound like the fridge uses the chip to determine when the filter is working less optimally so they can recommend you replace it but how can a tiny chip measure that data? I am convinced that the chip only tells the fridge "YES this is a NEW/DIFFERENT" filter and then the fridge counts down on a clock to illuminate the "Replace Filter" sign. It forces the customer to follow their timeline. I am going to try to bypass all this b.s. and save a bunch of money on my water filter, because I'm tired of being manipulated by these companies.

how to replace this filter

Asked by: wisamjweda
Open filter door on edge of door where you will see the filter. lift the bottom part of the filter till it stops moving then gently pull straight out. Don't twist, a bit of water may drip to replace push the new one in and push back in , close filter door. then run about 2 gallons of water through it . Then on the touch screen, go to settings click and look for water filter reset. make sure you run the water through or your auto fill may not work properly.

What feature differences will the RPFW filter cause in my CFE28TSHSS Cafe refrigerator versus using the RPFWE filter?

Asked by: Mulata
Hello Mulata - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. The RPFWE filter replaced the RPFW filter. The RPFW filter is no longer available. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Customer Reviews

Genuine Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water Filter Availability I'ts hard to recommend a product that never seems to be available online. If the product is so in demand it would seem it shoudn't be that difficult to keep enough water filters in stock. Have the same problem at the Home Depot always out of stock in the store. May next time should consider another alternative to a GE refridgerator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just fine This product really goes unseen but it seems to be doing it's job just fine. Our water tastes great and we haven't had any issues with the filter. Just wish they sold it on our local store. Installs very easily.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Discontinued filter for GE RPWF why after only having our fridge for 2 years is this filter discontinued, what are we supposed to use in its place to make our unit function properly? Our Fridge was purchased at home depot you think we could get the replacement filters from the store as well!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GE Genuine Water Filter for GE Profile refrigerator This GE water filter is the same as the one from the factory. It locks in place just as easy as the original. It allows the same water pressure as the original. You can't beat it for the price. No complaints!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not much of a filter. Way too expensive for what it is. Water spots left from drips dry to reveal it doesn't filter minerals from Grand Prairie/Dallas Water Supply very well. Leaves a white calcium like deposit that requires steel wool to remove from the stainless tray.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product performs as advertised HD on-line pricing the best that I found on the internet. Product performs as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features. A little expensive. This was an online only item which turned out to be on back order. HD should keep these in store as well. It was a little pricey.
