Very easy to install to the cord, assembles with the turn of three screws. It takes anywhere from 16/3 to 12/3 GA wire. Very versatile plug. It is rated for 15 amps, 125 volts. Excellent for use power tools and other appliances and they plug into the wall snugly and do not come up plugged easily. The plug has a nice grip, very easily to grab. Like this product very much!

This Heavy Duty 3 prong grounded male plug is sold with the GE (General Electric) label, but the plug is made in China. It does have the UL label (Underwriters Laboratory) so it has passed Underwriters Laboratory strict testing procedures for safety. The plug is made from black PVC which is a very sturdy material, and should hold up well under rough conditions. But, this plug is not rated for outdoor use. This is an indoor use only plug. It is rather large in size, measuring just shy of 1-7/8 inch diameter, and the black housing alone, not including the prongs or any wire which would stick out from its end is 2-1/4 inches long. The plug is rated for a maximum of 15 amps at 125 volts, and can be used with round 3 wire cable from #16-3 to #12-3 AWG sizes. The description states it can be used with several wire types that include the “W” designation. The “W” is for outdoor-sunlight resistant-wet location wire, and while the wire may be rated for these environments, the plug is not rated for outdoor, wet locations and should not be used outdoors. The plug is not sealed, and if exposed to water or liquids, they could easily enter inside the plug creating a dangerous condition. So do not use this plug to fix an extension cord that may be used outdoors, or in a wet environment. All of the screws (8 of them) have heads which you can use either a Slotted or Phillips head screwdriver on. The wires are attached to the prongs by simply inserting the straight stranded wire between two little pieces of metal which are then tightened together with a screw, clamping the wire firmly in place. This makes for a very easy, simple, strong, and clean connection. The cord is held to the black PVC housing by use of a metal, two screw clamp, which squeezes down on to the outer insulation of the round cord providing strain relief should someone pull on the cord to pull the plug from the outlet. This metal clamping method has been used for many decades, and I can remember seeing this same method used on cords back in the 1960’s. The problem with this method is that depending on the thickness of the cord’s insulation, the screw ends, and even the clamp itself protrude out too far, these protrusions can catch on things, snag on things, and even rip material or clothing. The instructions on the packaging are printed in an extremely small typeface. This makes it very difficult to read without magnification. While this may not be a problem for a person experienced in wiring electrical appliances, it may create a dangerous situation should they connect the wires incorrectly. The instructions call for the Black (Hot) wire to be connected to the “Brass” colored screw, the White (neutral) wire be connected to the “Silver” colored screw, and the Green (ground) wire be connected to the “Green” colored screw. The Green screw is easy enough to identify, but the “Brass” and “Silver” colored screws are very close in color and more difficult to differentiate.

The plug is easy to install, except that the directions are too little to easily read. The first thing you do is to remove the 3 screws on the face of the plug so you can remove the face. You then slide the cord through the end of the cover. The next thing you do is to strip 2 inches of the insulation from the cord. You then strip 1/2 inch of insulation from each wire. You then insert the WHITE wire into the silver screw and tighten it down. You then insert the BLACK wire into the gold screw and tighten it down. The GREEN wire is inserted into the green screw. Reinsert and screw down the 3 face screws. Push in the cord and tighten down the clamp screws to hold the cord into place. The plug works just like the original.

I had an extra thick extension cord. This plug has the biggest opening that I found so the cord I have barely fits, but it works! seems like a solid product.

The heavy duty grounding plug is well made with quality products. The rubber outer coating make it easy to use when plugging and unplugging the cord. The clamp to hold the wire securely to the plug to help prevent the cord from being pulled out if someone pulls the plug out using the cord. Don't do that. This plug is made to last from quality plugs.

I like the fact that you can use this for various gauge wires. It was easy to connect to my heavy duty extension cord. Once connected, it is very sturdy. I install a large amount of Christmas lights and run the cord thru an underground pipe. I remove the plug and run the cord thru the pipe, then reconnect the plug. If you need something that can be connected then reconnected, this will work well for you.

My husband does a lot of electrical work and he makes wires that need heavy duty ground plugs. He makes them to use on extension cords so he can plug in generators and other large items. So it is always good to have extras around so when you need them you have them. He also uses the plugs for our heavy duty outside lights that he has plugged into the solar panels. These do come in handy to have around when you need one and don't have to run out and get one.

This is a typical replacement plug that's of indetical function and quality as a handful of plugs that I already owned. They're pretty much all the same. The strain relief is sufficiently strong and everything is managed with philips screws, including the wire connections. Not waterproof ro even resistant. I used this to repair a nice extension cord that was run over by the snow blower. Not nearly as nice as the molded original plug, but it's better than throwing out the cord.

This review is for the GE Heavy Duty Grounding Plug While this is not the most modern and good looking plug, it is for sure a heavy duty one. It is built like a tank, and with the cord clamp it is meant to stay put once installed. I got this plug to replace a plug that was chewed off of my vacuum cleaner by a large dog. The cord on vacs are really thick, and this was the only one that I could find that can handle such a heavy insulated cord. It worked perfectly and I highly recommend it
