AnswerHi Ken, thanks for reaching out! Our induction, radiant, and radiant/halogen cooktops are durable "glass ceramic" material which is impact, stain, and scratch resistant. We guarantee the cooktop against discoloration, pattern wear-off , and breakage due to thermal shock (i.e. taking a pot from the refrigerator and placing it on a hot surface). AnswerHi WyoChef - Yes, you can place items on the cooktop when locked while prepping your foods. Also, the induction burners require a minimum pan size in order for the element to turn on. Pans that are not ferrous (magnetic) or are too small will not allow the induction burner to turn on. The power level display for that coil location will flash for 30 seconds and then turn off. AnswerHi TP - Yes, PHP9030BMTS can operate on 220V. Most cooking appliances are rated at 240 volt. The nominal voltage is 240 volt, but homes may have 208V, 220V, or 240V power supply. Any appliance that is rated for 240 volts and can also be used on a 220V or 208V outlet. Perfect temperature control - you will have to purchase new pots if you don’t have cast iron or quality stainless steel - love that surface doesn’t get hot - boils water so fast!!!

I used to always watch Doraemon when I was young and drool over their futuristic appliances. Then I visited my friend's kitchen and drooled over their luxurious stovetop. Dream no more because now I got my own, out-of-this-world stove and it's backed by physics, not cartoons! I absolutetly adore it, and the kitchen is now my favorite place in my home. I am amazed at the quality that GE offers and the brand will always have a special place in my gadget-and-food-loving heart.
On a sidenote, my original cooktop cutout was too wide so I will be specially custom ordering an extra trim to support the new cooktop.

Install was simple. It was our first induction stove and like most people say, we love it. Nice to work with and easy to clean. Very efficient heat transfer keeps the kitchen cooler.
