How tall is the agitator?
The agitator is approximately 17" tall and has spiral fins that turn through the water during the wash cycle. This action moves the water, which in turn moves the clothes down against the agitator into the water and up the sides of the washer. Joyce@GEAppliances

How do I fill the smart dispense? I cannot figure out how to get it open and the machine is saying that it’s empty.

Haw do i choose between the agitator and the impellar model?
We can confirm that this model PTW905BPTRS has a single-action agitator. Can I use the smart wash (liquid detergent) and still use the tide pods? Or is it either or?
The Smart Rinse feature senses the amount of soil and detergent in the current laundry cycle and determines whether additional water is needed to ensure a thorough rinse keeping fabrics performing like new for longer and this can be used with any type of detergent. We recommend the use of High Efficiency laundry packs such as Tide PODS™ or Gain Flings™. Note: The SmartDispenser will hold 75 ounces of liquid detergent for your convenience. What is an impeller
An impeller (also called an infusor) replaces the agitator in the wash basket. The Infusor plate works alone or with the wash basket to provide different types of wash action including a centrifugal wash action called Centrifusion (cleaning solution is rapidly pulled through fabrics to force out dirt for thorough, gentle cleaning). The impeller also rotates (or oscillates) back and forth to "measure" resistance on its surface to determine the load size which allows it to fill with just the right amount of water needed for great wash performance.
