Yes it has a reverse function, which is located on the fan itself.

Hello Zebulon, The GE Selena Ceiling fan could be used without the light, but could not be installed without the light. Please reach out to us at support@skyplug.com if you would like more information on this fan. Thank You, The SkyPlug Team

Zebulon

Can this be installed on a slanted ceiling? I didn't know if that quick-connect feature would prohibit this. thanks

Yes, but please review the installation instructions online at HomeDepot.com . There are angle restrictions as you do not want a blade to hit your ceiling. The quick connect makes life easy on these type fans.

JoeinSac

can this fan be installed with a 2 switchs 1 for fan and 1 switch for light

I am sure your electrician can do that. But there is a remote control so you really just need one switch for the power and the remote control can turn the light on or off and leave the fan on.

(What's this)
The fan was fairly easy to install in the same location as the original fan. This is great improvement over the original fan. The LED light fixture is bright enough for the room with a 9ft. ceiling. The original only had a single bulb and this has the three 60W equivalent LEDs. This do not have dimming capability, but you can replace with those that have the feature if you want. The fan moves more air than the original fan due to being a 52" model. The fan can't be reversed from the remote, but it is a climate where the direction is blowing downward about 80-90 percent of the time. It's a good fan at a fair price. It will be a nice addition to the living room. Looks great and fits the space!

(What's this)
I replaced my old wobbly ceiling fan with this one; overall, it is very stylish and I really like it but gave it four stars because of missing parts, an issue with the functionality and some cherry paint on one of the walnut sides of the blade. I will explain but first, the fan was packaged very well in the box, no parts were damaged but I was missing a single canopy screw and the rubber washers for the wire box. Not the end of the world but they should have been in the box. Setting up the SkyPlug is certainly easier than pig-tailing four wire while holding a 15 pound fan but I wasn't pleased that I couldn't use my primary hot wire to keep the fan motor powered at all times. With most ceiling fans, one hot (black) wire powers the fan motor at all times and a second hot (red) wire powers the light when the wall switch is on. Essentially, I wired the second hot into the SkyPlug so now my fan motor and light only work when the switch is on. Not a major inconvenience and the instructions state it is because the fan is remote powered. I feel there could have been a work-around for this issue which is why I give the fan four stars, in addition to missing parts. To set up the skyplug, I did have to do two wires pig-tailed off the neutral and hot so it still required some work. The fan is easy to assembly and with a snap and twist, it is mounted. I had to remove it once to rewire the hot wires and it was easy to take down and put back up. One other issue I had is that my ceiling is not level so the canopy trim ring will not stay on flush. I am glad it came with the bulbs which are nice and bright for our 14 x 16 ft room. The fan has three speeds, the slowest being a little slower than the previous fan. Best of all, no wobble. The kit does come with a weight clip if you have to balance the fan blades. The blades have a dark cherry finish or a walnut (I think the dark side is cherry). On one blade, there was a splotch of dark paint on the lighter side. Assembly and installation took about 1.5 hours.

I had the opportunity to evaluate this great fan system. First I have to mention to us that have installed fans before.. Once you use this system you will not go back.. Although hard to explain it is so fast and nice it make installs much better. Mounting the base is great since its a light piece and it is the only wired part. I suggest leveling the mounting plate before setting fan. This will almost always result in a smoother and non wobbly fan install. I also found a small medallion that matched( Not included) that made the install a bit more classy. I bypassed some of the instructions by putting the blades on before lifting to position. It is a push up, twist and click fast up.. For those that hate lifting overhead note that this only took 20 seconds and Viola- got fan. The system has a trim ring that covers the 4 base screws for a nice look. Unit runs very quiet and is remote operated- No pull chains to rattle.

(What's this)
I got this fan to put up in our new house and have to say it is a beautiful looking thing. I was immediately taken by the way the electrical connections are accomplished on this unit. There is a series of concentric rings that make connection to the motor/ light wiring harness. I recommend reading the instructions and looking at the video before getting to far into the installation because the hook up is really like nothing else I have seen before. There are four terminals on the ring block but you will only use three. I do not know why the manufacturer would put an extra one because someone will try to hook up all four at some point. Any way if you follow the directions, which are very good and explicit you will be okay. The cool thing about the complicated electronics is that you can have independent controll of the light and fan operations Via a remote controll push button without adding another switched wire to the fixture. The not so cool thing is that there is a lot of complicated electronic stuff to fail.

This is a great looking fan that was easy to install I had zero issues with this fan during installation, and none so far. This fan uses a remote to control the light and fan speeds. There are no external pulls on this fan. The remote comes with a mount to hold the remote as well. One unique feature I liked about this fan was how easy it was to hand and install this fan. The mounting bracket for this fan also part of the wiring for this. You insert the wires into the appropriate location on bracket. This keeps all the wiring neat and clean with out having to figure out how to stuff wires into the gang box as you also try and lift the fan into place. Hanging this fan was a breeze as the fan is held in place by a pin and ball detent. There is also a quick release lever if you need to take the light down. but you'll also need to remove the mounting screws taht help keep everything snugly in place. All in all this fan is great looking once installed. Though I wouldn't pick the birch colored side of the fan blades. stick with the richer darker color. just my opinion.

(What's this)
This was a beautiful replacement ceiling fan and does everything it is suppose to do. It comes with 3 GE Bright Stik light bulbs, which we already use everywhere. Assembly was very easy, however, instructions seem to be lacking in some areas. I did like the way that the ceiling bracket has the wiring accommodations on it, and the fact that then the fan is just pushed up into it and twisted for a nice lock. There is no trying to hold the ceiling fan up while you wire. With that being said, it is very obvious that the engineers on this never tried to assemble the unit. When you are trying to connect the down rod to the motor, the instructions say to plug the two plugs together, then carefully push the wire into the down rod while you slip the down rod into the socket and install the pin. I spent about 20 minutes trying to get the large plastic clip into the rod, as there is not enough room to push the wire and clip into the rod, and then push the connecting pin through the hole. The plastic plugs block the hole and there is no moving it with the pin so that you can go through both sides of the rod. Finally, with another person pushing the wire and clip into the rod and myself "carefully" moving the plastic clip aside with a small pointed object, I was able to get the connecting pin through the hole. You have to be careful not to damage the wires or plug while doing this. So, get some help to do this part and you will be in business. GE needs to take a look at this problem.

(What's this)
The brushed nickel finish looks great, and I like the idea of blades with dark wood color on one side, lighter wood on the other. The remote is rudimentary, but works well enough. LED lights are included, but at 760 lumens, they're not very bright, especially if the fan is mounted in a tall ceiling. Installation is more complicated than some ceiling fans, in that there are more steps to perform. However, after following the instructions, and watching the video online, installation went without a hitch. I don't ever reverse my indoor ceiling fan direction, so the inconvenience of the reversing switch is not an issue for me, but may be for some, especially since the remote control does not allow for this function.

(What's this)
First of all the description is just wrong or very misleading. The lights are not dimmable. And who makes a remote control but doesn't let you switch the motor direction. These two features should be clearly listed in any product description. I mounted mine in a room with a vaulted ceiling. Now I have to get out a tall ladder to change the direction. Luckily I use it in the same direction 90% of the time. The glass light cover blocks the switch so you can't use a light pole to switch it. On the plus side it looks really great. I replaced a 20+ year old Hampton Bay, with remote that let you dim the lights and switch direction by the way, that was fully functional but the look was outdated. Both sides of the blades look good so you can easily use the dark or light side. The remote only has a 20 foot range so plan the placement of holster accordingly. Also only works with one light switch. Wobble is very minimal and might be due to my vaulted ceiling. One side of fan is about a foot from the ceiling while the other side is almost 4 feet. An interesting feature that may be useful is the 5 second off delay. When activated you have five seconds to leave the room before the light turns off. Besides that feature the remove is very basic. Feels a bit cheap but not much technology there so it should last. It does use AAA batteries which is a big plus compared to my old remote which used a 9V. Lastly, the new quick connect power adapter worked pretty well. You are pushing the entire fan into place above your head and blindly trying to get the pin to set but I managed to get it attached after about five tries. If you are not used to working over your head you may want to get help from a strong person or take a break as you will already have been working over your head for a while to get to this step. This was my first ceiling fan replacement and it was straightforward. The instructions were not the best but good enough to get through it. No special electrical knowledge is required. You will need a small #1 phillips screwdriver to connect the electrical wires. Light is not that bright so would not be enough to use this as the sole lighting source in a large room with vaulted ceiling. Probably fine for a standard 8 or 9 foot ceiling. If you don't care that the lights are not dimmable or the fan is reversible then this is a good choice as long as the price is right.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, "Thank you for your comments. The light kit included with your fan is not dimmable, however, a dimmable 10 watt light bulb can be used. (Please note that the remote setting will also need to be changed, as shown in the fan's Instruction Manual.) This fan uses a 3-speed remote without reverse function. The reverse switch is located on the base of the fan. Please contact us for further assistance toll free at 1-866-885-4649.
