Product Overview

  • Lifetime guarantee - will not shrink, crack, break down or yellow
  • Weatherproof - sun-proof, freeze-proof, flexible
  • 30-minute rain-ready - permanently waterproof
The outside of a home is exposed to harsh outdoor elements throughout the year. Extreme heat, the sun's UV rays, and freezing temperatures can cause acrylic and siliconized acrylic caulks to lose flexibility and degrade. GE Silicone II Window and Door is permanently flexible and will not break down so it can protect a home as it settles or as the seasons change and joints expand and contract. This movement can cause degraded acrylic caulk to crack and crumble over time, leaving gaps for air and water to seep through. Those leaks can lead to water damage, mold growth, and higher energy bills. GE Silicone II Window and Door develops strength and adhesion quickly so it can be exposed to water in as little as 30 minutes. Some caulk requires up to 24 hours or longer before it can be exposed to water. For homeowners trying to squeeze home maintenance projects into the weekend or pros who are looking to move on to the next job, GE Silicone II can decrease the waiting time, helping increase convenience, speed, and efficiency. 100% Silicone sealant is widely considered to be the best caulk for sealing areas that will be exposed to water.

Hello all. What is the best caulk for aluminum storm windows? Just removed for repainting and repair of wood frame windows and preparing to reinstall. Unsure if silicone caulk is the answer or something more specific for this task. Location Southern NH so cold weather is a consideration. And yes, I know not to caulk only the top and sides. And no, I will not be removing the storms every year, so I need something which will last. Many thanks for any advice.

Customer Reviews

Silicone II 10.1 oz. Clear Window and Door Caulk is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Silicone Product! This is a great silicone, if you're reading reviews have a laugh and read the one-star reviews of this product. The people who wrote them are obviously ... um, challenged. Someone gave it one star because you can't paint it... Everyone knows you cannot paint silicone. Gave it one star because if it's past its use-by date it's not good... That's why it has a use-by date. Gave it one star because he left it in the garage and it's froze and the tubes split... So if you're not an idiot this is a wonderful product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best finish caulk you can buy GE II 100% Silicone caulk does what it says...it sticks to almost every surface (PVC and plastics I'd rate a 7 out of 10). This is NOT a paintable caulk...it's 100% Silicone, so of course you can't paint it! Just follow the directions: TAPE (masking) BOTH SIDES of the joint before filling, apply a 3/16" bead, smooth over the joint with a "gloved" finger (latex or rubber) or tool, then IMMEDIATELY (within 5 minutes) pull off both sides of the masking tape. Guaranteed to get a smooth joint and no mess. The joint will last for years. One word of caution: the joint must be ABSOLUTELY DRY!! Use Denatured Alcohol (no residue) and a cotton cloth to wipe the joint before you apply the masking tape. I wish reviewers would know what they're talking about before making statements...the GE II 100% Silicone Caulk is the best in the market. ,

I have a 40 year old house that has some small cracks in foundation. When it rained water was leaking into the house. Applied this caulk in the cracks and it took care of the problem, now no more water leakage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I found this stuff a few years back and it's been in my inventory ever since! I use this stuff to seal roof penetrations for the solar collectors I install. So far I've used this stuff on over 1000 systems and haven't had a single issue with leaks! Yeah, there's less expensive products out there that could probably do the job, but this stuff gives me peace of mind knowing that I won't ever have to deal with an angry customer that has a leak in their ceiling. This stuff applies easily, dries quickly & clear and it doesn't crack or shrink and pull away from the materials it's intended to bond to. I've applied it to metal (copper, aluminum, stainless steel), PVC, wood, Trex, asphalt shingles, pipe insulation and rubber gaskets... and it has provided a water tight seal around all of them! Also, not all silicone's are the same! I tried buying another brand that was 1/2 the price and had what appeared to be all the same ingredients. That product ended up having an acidic reaction with the asphalt singles! It caused damaged wherever it came into contact with a shingle and it also ended up shrinking and pulling the surface off of the shingles allowing water to get underneath the sealant. I don't have that problem with the Silicone II. However I set the product (as a bead or smeared out) it STAYS that way. HINT: This stuff is sticky! If you are trying to get a nice smooth surface when smearing it out, spit on your finger before smoothing! Yeah, it's kinda gross, but then it doesn't stick to your finger and you'll get a glossy smooth surface! ;-)

I used only about a 6 inch long bead to seal a spot on my kitchen sink. The cap was on tight, when I went to get it today the entire tube was split down the side and the silicone inside was a yellowed and hardened blob. I remember years ago having tubes of silicone rubber that lasted for many years but I guess these new ones have a very short life. Fortunately I had a small tube of DAP silicone, still usable, with enough to do the job. The DAP silicone is an old metal tube that said 'Best if used by Dec 2008' , so its probably 10 years old.
