GP2500i 2,500-Watt Manual-Start Gasoline Powered Inverter Generator 50-ST/CSA

I ordered one of these just prior to the 50% price increase. When I received it (late) I found the outer shroud didn't fit properly and left a big gap between panels. If a glaring and very obvious fault is on the outside, what about the lack of quality on the inside? I returned it and tried to pick up the (delayed again) replacement today. Two trips to a store for a total of 220 miles and I still don't have a generator because we opened the box right there and the replacement fit was worse than the original. If generac doesn't take care of quality in one model, I will never trust anything of theirs. They sent the manufacturing to china - it can stay in china. BTW - I called generac and they offered nothing in the way of help.

Followed manufactures direction for set up and operations... adding included oil and fresh gas. Executed start procedures as instructed. The generator ran extremely rough with sporadic misfiring. Voltage display did not register voltage or operation and the "quiet mode" switch did not change engine speed or operation. After less than two minutes of running, I noticed the exhaust system did not line-up with the case, melting the plastic housing. Unit was returned to my nearest Home depot for a full refund.

I just returned from a 14 day camping/ fishing trip in the mountains of BC. I was camped on a lake in an two compartment Oz tent a 2 hour drive from the closest town. I have owned a 4,000 watt Generac for 19 years. The GP2200i performed flawlessly meeting Generac expectations.. 1) Very reasonably priced.i considered paying almost double for a competitor's product ... glad I did not. 2) Easy to handle when moving it. 3) Starts immediately every time with usually one pull with the choke "On" and then switched to "Run". 4) Very fuel efficient running on 94 octane. 5) Operated most of the time in "Econo" mode to power a 3 cu ft refrigerator (150 watt) in my tent kitchen. Regular mode would stall under such a small load (<10%) until I wised up. Two five lb ice blocks in a cooler melt pretty fast in warm weather. The GP2200i re-froze water every day in two ice cream buckets for the cooler. The cooler remained conveniently in the tent for most of the trip. 6) Very quiet ... we could carry on a conversation standing next to it. Works great charging 12v batteries, both vehicle and deep cycle for boats. Used it to recharge smartphone through USB. 7) A 12v deep cycle battery powered a 750 watt inverter to make 120v to run the frig at night if desired. 8) My truck alternator died on the road two hours from camp. I charged the battery two times before it died. All in all excellent peoduct!

Love this generator! Beats my expectations. If you are looking at purchasing a inverter generator, this is the one you need. Will run my entire camper and its quieter than my yamaha.

The GP3000I generator is one of the nicest generator I have owned. I have had this generator for about 6 months now but have never had a reason to run it or even add the oil. Well that all changed with some weather we have had in the mid-west last week. My power when out and the first thing I did was grab my GP3000I. I added the supplied oil and added gas and it started on the first pull. Talk about quit, it is super quit running. I would have no problem running this generator for hours outside my house and I'm sure it wouldn't even bother anyone. My power was out a couple hours and I need to run my sump pump so I didn't destroy my finished basement. This generator is so easy to set-up, start and just in general easy to use. Great product and I'm sure it will be used here with the crazy weather we have here in the mid-west.

This generator works very well and is super quiet. It starts easily and nicely as long as you have the knob turned to choke, for some reason it will not start on the run setting even when fully warmed up. It is very quiet, my decibel meter put it at about the same decibels as a popular red 2000 watt generator, but my ears say that it is a little quieter. It has a 30 amp 125 vac plug which is nice in that it keeps the cords from falling out of the generator, it also has (2) standard 125 vac plugs and (2) USB plugs. I think the USB plugs are kind of a waste as most of the things you would use with them you don't want to leave outside to charge, I would have preferred that it had a 12 volt dc charging port for batteries. It also has parallel ports to hook it up to second Generac GP3000i generator. It also has a economy switch which slows and quiets the generator at no or low load idle. There are 2 circuit breakers, one for the parallel connection and one for the 30 amp plug. Also it has 3 lights one for "ready" one for "overload" and one "low oil". It is nice that it comes with everything you need to fire it up (except gas) it has 20 oz bottle of oil, a very nice funnel, a spark plug wrench and a phillips screwdriver. To start it you just turn the knob to "choke" and pull the cord, then quickly turn the knob to run. It has started every time hot or cold on the first pull. (note: I am at 5000 ft). I purposely overloaded it, when you reach a minor overload the overload light will blink slowly, and as you put more of an overload on it, it will blink faster and faster till it stays solid red. It is supposed to kick out the generator, but let the motor keep running when you reach too much of an overload, I loaded it down to 79 vac and it never kicked out, which I didn't like, as the low voltage could damage some equipment. It seemed to run very close to its rated running output of 2300 watts, The manual says that for every 1000 ft in elevation output will drop about 3.5% and about 1% for every 10 degrees over 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The dimensions are about 19" tall, 13" wide and 22" long, and I measured the weight with gas and oil at 66 lbs. To access the spark plug you just open a little door, to access the air filter you have to remove 4 screws on the side cover and one screw on the air filter cover, and to access the spark arrestor for cleaning you remove 4 screws on the rear cover and then 2 on the spark arrestor. It would have been nice if it had some on-board storage for the tools. I really do like this generator it is super quiet and does just exactly what it is supposed to do with basically no muss or fuss.

Extremely easy to setup initially and operate. Easy to follow instructions. Unit comes with the 1 quart of 4 cycle SAE 30 oil and funnel to fill the oil well. You need only to add the regular gasoline and it was ready to start. Very easy to do that as well. A simple 3-way switch Start/Run/Stop “choke”. Two pulls and it started right away. Initially smelled a little but after a few minutes that dissipated and the engine purred like a kitten. Extremely quiet and works perfectly. This unit is a standby for power outages and camping trips that we take every now and again to fish. It is about 50 pounds but has a very convenient carry handle on the top of the unit. It is ready for an RV hookup which I do not have but has 2 -110volt outlets and 2 USB outlets for your smartphones and computers etc. 3000 watts. It also has the technology to connect a second inverter to produce twice the output put I do not have that but it is nice if down the line I choose to get a second unit.

It started right up after 2 pulls. It is probably the most quietest Generator I have ever used. And if you turn on "economy" it is even quieter yet. The generator weighs 48 lbs. before adding gas and oil. I used every bit of the container of oil that came with it. I had to unscrew 2 screws to remove the side maintenance door. If the oil gets low, the generator will shut off. The spark plug door is right on top of the generator and is easy to access. I don't have many outlets in my garage so I've already used the generator to run my saw, drill and radio. I've also used it to plug in my electric weed eaters, so that I don't have to wrestle with long extension cords. It's ready to fire up to run my sump pump and refrigerator when my power goes out this summer, because I always lose power several times during the summer season. With 1700 watts of power, this generator can handle almost every need of mine.

'GENERAC" and The Home Depot have come up with the perfect secondary generator for every homeowner ! So nice that it is small and quiet enough for you to use on your porch, or carry it to the deck. The KOOL part is that this will power up your cell phone or tablets and hot plate to cook and keep up with news and family when power is out !! Also great for RVs as it is light enough to carry around and keep you 12 volt system hot ! And power your TVs out in the woods ! I love it !! USB, 12 volt and 120 volt ports !
