Installation Cost

We have 4 rooms on our first floor - Since this one listed has 4 "vents" for the 4 rooms, we presume this one: Multi Zone 36K BTU 3.0 ton Ductless mini split AC w/Heat, Inverter Remote 208-230V/60HZ - would be the one we would need: 2 Rooms are about 12' x 15', the other two are about 10' x 10' - Unless you would suggest another unit - In any case, We would want it professionally installed: what is that additional cost? Thank you

Please be clear about this if you live in CA. Home depot will not install this. I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with their customer service to ask "do you have installers in CA that deal with any minisplt system that is not Mitsubishi" simple question I thought, but No. Eventually some seemed to understand and said yes. Our installers can install Gree minisplit systems. Made the appointment, planned on buying system after I get the quote for installation. But 4 days after this (the day before the appointment) the installers call and say "We can only install Mitsubish". What is more, I cannot even buy a Mitsubishi mini split system from HomeDepot and ask them to install. They must buy it from HomeDepot and charge me 1 price for Product and install. They could only give me a rough estimate but (without seeing the property), he guessed between $16 - $17k for 5 zone Mitsubishi minisplit in a single story home. There seems to be lot of people saying it's CA law. I have no idea why this is like this. i just have my doubts that it is legislation preventing someone from coming to your house and giving you a quote for an AC system. I may be wrong but it seems $16k (total purchase for system and install) when the product is a $4.5k system is a Gouge. A big 1 too.

It says in specs coverage area 1200 sq ft , does that mean per air handler or total for three?

my home is wired 120v would this unit be a problem

Voltage is not the problem. The cost is pulling "new" circuit wire; you definitively need a circuit for the outdoor condenser unit. The indoor air handling units (w/ evaporator coils) drawers a few amps for the fan, and can be tapped from existing 15 or 20 amp circuits. Depending on how difficult to pull copper wire, and if you can tap from existing circuits for the air handlers, that can be $3-$4,000 of work. If you need a new power panel, that's about $2,000, mostly labor. A fair price for an electrician is $100/hour -- I had 1 electrician who was transparent - 15 hours of work = $1,500. Other contractors (including plumbers) don't price based on time/effort, but price it as a "job" - - doesn't matter how long, they price $600 for X job, so in this case, $3,500 could be average to do electrical because they can.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I have had this system for 3 years , have had nothing but problems. The support team was very res... I have had this system for 3 years , have had nothing but problems. The support team was very responsive on my initial issues ( freezing up as it was leaking at the ndoor and ext units due to the flare on tubing problems. Had them fixed 3 times from my ac guy. The Real problem seems to be that the unit consistently freezes up due to losing refrigerant and condensation builds up leaks in between my floors ruined my hardwood floors. My AC guy has been out for times in the past two months to drain the system and put a full re-charge on it. Now we’re being told that it’s a suction port and a liquid port that is bad we ordered three weeks ago And now we are being told it’s on back order so the system continues to leak I have to have it continuously re-charged once a week and now it’s cost me over $1000 in repair work the unit cost me $2200 to buy. This is total waste of money and how a company cannot keep parts on hand is beyond me but continue to sell Chyna crap

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We had the GREE multizone installed in 3 bedrooms (1 unit-3 handlers) in our home in May 2017 and... We had the GREE multizone installed in 3 bedrooms (1 unit-3 handlers) in our home in May 2017 and its been great so far :) We live in MO, so the weather changes over night from 90' F to 35' F. The unit heats up the rooms and cools them down quickly. I'm a light sleeper, but I don't even hear them running. You need to know that there are refrigerant and drainage hoses to buy that do not come with the unit. Those cost an additional $500 and the unit must be installed by a licensed ac technician which costed us $2000 (and that was the cheapest). True enough that each room can be on a different temperature, but all must be on the same mode (heat, cooling, fan, auto). Overall, I would recommend these units especially if you have an older home that's hard/impossible to install duct work in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gree milti-21 I wrote an earlier review on this product and wanted to update. At the time I hade just installed. Now, 4 weeks has passed and I my unit has quite. It gives a E6 code for the problem. This is a communication problem with the outside unit and the inside units. After having a licensed AC repair person take a look, the outside unit board has a burn on it. and needs replaced. Can only get the part from Florida. Haven't found out yet whether GREE will cover the part. Worked great for 4 weeks. Not other appliances in house had problems. No lightning, just a part that must have had a defect. WE, will see. This unit was a replacement for another brand/make that lasted 2 years. It had poor company support to identify the problem. Hopefully this one is better. I said, I would not recommend at this time. I base this on wait and see how Gree responds. I mention this because many reviews are early and are not fair to base reviews on a unit that was recently installed. When I was trying to decide on which brand or unit it would be nice to see reviews on products that have run for some time in order to fairly evaluate..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad I purchased this product in may had it installed and it hasn't worked correctly since installed. The 12,000 unit would not cool unless the 9000 was on. Then they both started working some what ok. Next problem they both stopped cooling on a day that was 115 degrees out. Yea!!! I had to turn units off for about an hour then turned on and they started cooling again. I been going round and round with Gree and they are not much help. They want my ac tech to drop everything and run out to my house when the unit is acting up.Yea right like that's possible.,and at my expense no less! I had to reach out to home depot in Atlanta and am still waiting for answers. The compressor unit is warranted for 7 years! Why haven't they just sent a new one?????

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gree mini split Ductless Air conditioner with heat pump. !8000 I am very cautious in giving reviews on a product without having longer time prior to evaluating. Most products work well initially. But, do they still perform 1 yr. and 2 yrs. later. Ask me again in 1,2, 0r 3 years. To me this is the value. OK, The unit so far performs well. It was easy to install. I bought this unit because the unit I installed 2 yrs. ago stopped working. It was impossible to gets parts and or understand what was wrong. The codes it threw did not mean much to the inexperienced people at the company. I hope this has better customer service. It is 1 of the most popular ones over seas. The GREE unit also has more places to get parts. These units are easy to install , quite, and come prefilled with Freon. I recommend this as a handyman install. Good instructions and clear language.
