Make sure you plan your install depth correctly
This is a great valve and it's nice to have a solid bracket to attach it to blocking. But if your shower is 2x4 construction and you're putting in a tile wall, it is a tight fit. I ended up cutting down a 2x to about 3/4" thickness and still had to cut a couple of grooves for the valve to sit in a slight recess. Another solution would be to remove the bracket and just use the holes on the valve where the bracket mounts (but then you're drilling your screws through the threaded holes on the valve...so be sure this is what you want to do). This would not be an issue if you're framing 2x6 walls.

We would have needed the part # on the box and a picture of the valve to verify what you received. Grohe has always been a level above the typical mainline brands like Moen, Delta, American Standard, and even Kohler. Grohe products are generally well engineered and are made with better materials than most other brands. They still use a lot of brass in their faucetry unlike most other brands having gone to low quality and short lived zinc. This pressure balanced valve comes with standard crimp type 1/2" pex hot/cold inlets and the shower/tub outlets are normal 1/2" solder. It has a useful stainless bracket on the back to secure to a piece of plywood or thin brace. It also has a little self leveling arrow on the plaster guard to assist in getting it level upon installation though I usually double check with a real level anyway. This valve fits most of Grohe's non-thermostatic trims. Now, I actually do prefer the solder inlet valve that Grohe makes rather than this valve's pex inlets because it gives me more flexibility in what material I decide to run to the valve and if you run copper into it and down or up a little bit it gives more rigidity to the installation when clamping the piping. However, if you are running only the crimp type(not expandable Uponor/Wirsbro type) pex then this valve is fine so long as you are sure to brace it well.
