This is a very impressive machined brass rough-in valve weighting about 2-3/4 pounds. This model has 1/2" PEX cold expansion inlets and 1/2" universal outlets, also included is a sweat plug for a 3 port option. The blue plastic plaster guard makes positioning this rough-in valve a breeze, the minimum and maximum finish surface locations are molded into the guard (see photo) there is about 3/4" between the limits.

Great quality. Very well constructed mixing valve. Superb packaging. You can never go wrong with Grohe. Be certain that you are choosing the correct model based on what connection type you will be using. This one is for PEX. As I say with all of my reviews, if you do not have experience, please hire a professional to do the work as the damage that can be done can be very extensive.

I have no indication that this product is not of fine quality. However my contractor consulted with a plumbing supply company and was told that it is made to a European PEX standard. For that reason I returned it and bought another, essentially identical Grohe valve made to the American standard.

Hello, thank you for the feedback on this product. If possible please contact us at us-techservice@grohe.com with the model number of the original valve purchased. All of the Grohe valves sold in the US market are manufactured to be used with standard US PEX and copper piping. Grohe-AmericanStandard

My wife and I had a new shower built in our master bedroom. It was perfect, except for the fact that it was too long for the water to reach clear across to the other side. The solution: Add a second shower head. Fortunately, I had room next to the original Grohe controls and I was able to access the back of the shower through a crawl space to get this mounted. The barbed inlets make this a simple pex installation. The only negative to many Grohe products is that they like to use a lot of pictures to describe the installation. The products are marketed internationally, and they don't translate every instruction into every language.

I am in the process of building a house inside a metal barn that includes two bathrooms. I remodeled the farmhouse a few years ago and installed two shower heads in the baths. I now wouldn't build a shower or shower/bath without an overhead rain shower and a shower head with a spray hose. This valve is needed (along with the trim of course) to install and control two water sources for the shower heads. You'll need the Pex crimping tool to install this along with the crimp rings.

This was installed with ease! I already had the PEX coming into my bathroom. If you have copper or galvanized, then you need some adapters & your install will be more complex. I love how it feels so super heavy duty and is all brass. I have some other Grohe faucets, and they are built like tanks and will last my lifetime. I am definitely wanting to get another & do the same install for my next bathroom.

As a plumber I’ve installed just about every shower valve on the market. Grohe has been one of the “go to” brands for years. They have been easy to find install and well made. The plastic plaster shroud is easy to understand for depth in the wall and there is a reasonable amount of wall thickness area in case the wall finishes change. Many of Grohes products have changed recently but this one seems to have stayed the way it was. And that’s great.

Grohe makes this valve and it has some pros and cons. Overall I think I will stick with another brand. One of my main issues with this is the difficulty of assembly. You have to consider the assembly of the trim with this to understand the issue. When you do your final assembly with the Grohe trim you will struggle a bit with the small screws, and different tools you will need. Even the two cover screws for this valve are difficult to put back on since the plastic cover does not have any aligning features so you have to move it around and back and forth to get the screws to find the holes. The method of adjusting the temp is also tedious and you have to use several tools to get to the parts, and be careful not to have any of them fall and go into the drain while you are working on it. In contrast, Delta you need only to use a Phillips and one screw and you can get in and out with ease. On the positive, it seems to be made well, and the handle moves smoothly with a little resistance so you can adjust finely.

We needed this valve to install the new Grohe Single hand pressure balance valve trim kit. Like most of the products we have ordered from Grohe both the unit itself and its packaging were well thought our and robust, limiting the exposure to damage during shipping and handling. The install is straight forward, and similar to many of the other valves on the market, which means if you aren't familiar with household plumbing you should hire a professional.
