Does anyone know if this insulation works with Wayne Dalton Brand doors?

Asked by Damien May 3, 2021

Answer

Get out your tape measure and go look at the inside of the doors! If there are segmented channels, these will likely work. If you are not comfortable with this, and the use of either a box cutter, table saw, or a circular saw, hire a handyman! This should only take a couple of hours.

These panels typically don't use glue. Rather, you cut the individual panels so you can slip then into the segmented panels of the door. If you want to make them a bit tighter, maybe a bit of canned spray foam afterwards.

Do these panels help reduce noise coming out of the garage?

yes, but remember its just a 1 inch styrofoam layer. the insulation doesn't allow the door to echo the sound as much when doing work in the garage. And when you tap on the outside of the garage door, you can tell the difference .

Just buy a 4x8 sheet of 1.5" foam insulation with the radiant barrier (or, as many as you need), and then rip them on the table saw, or use a skilsaw.

Before purchasing I read about 50 reviews from this product and Matador’s project. I chose this product because Matador was out of stock at Home Depot online and is not sold at the stores. My husband and I are in tech and have no formal home improvement background. This was one of the easiest home projects we’ve completed. By buying an non-insulated garage door and installing the insulation ourselves, it saved us more than $100 per garage door. Here’s what we did: My husband used a measuring tape to measure the garage door panels, made one cut per insulation and then I popped them in. We used the Roomba afterwards to vacuum the little bit of waste. Tools & Supplies Used Straight edge razor Measuring Tape In all the project took 35 minutes and has made our garage a lot warmer. #winning The one gotcha is that our new garage doors are unequal. On each individual door, the left side is wider than the right side. Keep this in mind if you cut all at once. Grateful for the low price point and easy installation.

I'm a 70 yr old Grandma. These insulation panels were so easy to install. Took me less than a day from start to finish (double car garage). I had to trim the panels but it wasn't hard to do. The difference in my garage is amazing. Looking forward to see what is does in the summer.

Very easy to install, garage is much cooler and quieter
Bought this to reduce noise and heat. Super hot here in Florida and this has definitely made a noticeable difference and cooled the garage. Added bonus - reduced noise from neighbor kids and cars driving by outside. Was super easy to install, had to remove hurricane bars which was easy and cut to size with box cutter. Altogether, super happy with purchase and quality.
