Terrific Storage Racks for the Garage
I purchased two separate "Garage Essentials" racks: One was a 96-inch "Ultimate Shelf and Rack Storage System" and the other was a 64-inch "Utility Shelf and Track Storage System". The online presentation of the products and the videos were an accurate and helpful representation of what was later delivered. The purchase was simple and the delivery was on time. The boxed items arrived undamaged. With regards to the installations: Clear and reasonably simple.

96 inches of solid rack will hold a lot
The Garage Essentials Ultimate Kit Track Storage is solidly lag screwed to studs 16 inches on center and has four support struts for a lot of holding capacity. Sixteen single hooks, four bicycle hooks, 2 wide double hooks, and 2 standard double hooks that can go anywhere on six hook bars that can also be moved around the rack provide endless options to match storage needs. Adjustable at any time the kit can easily adapt as your storage needs change. Assembly is simple, just mark and drill pilot holes, lag screw the frames to the wall, snap in the shelf rods and hook bars, snap on the hooks, and you are ready to store.
I am about to put together my new Garage Essentials Ultimate Kit Track Storage System. The one I have is 96" wide and I plan on storing my Gazelle Tent on the shelf rather than put plastic storage boxes on that shelf. As I unpacked the box it is clear this is a quality storage rack/system. All the parts are heavy and solidly built. Since it will involve putting it together, I will need to get my brother to come help me. But I wanted to tell you how impressed about the quality all the components are! I laid out the parts on my garage floor and took a picture for you as well. I am excited to get this system put together and put up!!!
This is a high quality product that is engineered and manufactured very well. It arrived in perfect condition due to the expert packaging and careful preparation for shipment. The instructions are thorough and easy to follow with only one thing I wanted to add. I used a level to help position the shelf supports prior to drilling the pilot hole for each support.
I haven't yet selected everything I will store on this unit because it is capable of carrying a heavy load. It would be even more valuable with a high ceiling, which mine is not.
Don't let the price deter you. This unit is high quality and the prices seems justified once you see it. My only criticism is that I would like to see more options for the hooks, even if I have to order more selection I might do so.
This holds 1,500 lbs. That is a lot. It looks nice, too. It is lightweight aluminum. It took me three hours by myself to install. Because I was not familiar with the product, I took my time. I struck a horizontal line, used a stud finder, and marked my studs. I then followed directions by using a 3/16 inch drill bit to start my holes; thereafter, I used a 1/2 inch socket and wrench to ratchet in the accompanying lag bolts into shelf brackets and into the wall. There are seven bars that bolt to a wall stud. these stick out 20 inches; pay attention that you know the first, third, fifth, and seventh wall bars are slotted underneath so support brackets fit in on that end while the other bracket end also gets bolted into a wall stud. So starting with the first, and with each odd one, that is the order so the supporting bracket can go into the bottom of the wall-mounted bar. The even bars also mount with a lag bolt into the wall but these have no supporting brackets: two, four, six are not supported. Then the face plates are screwed in to tie the shelving front end together. There are two side/corner pieces that trim out the edges. On top, there are aluminum poles that snap in across three installed, bolted-to-the wall bars. So this means you have seven poles deep going left to right across three bars, and another seven poles going left to right and seven poles deep, and then again for a third time. The aluminum poles snap in and tie in the shelf for rigidity. Some things to note: you absolutely MUST have 16 inch on center studs or you are not going to be able to install this shelf without opening up your wall to see why you don't have 16 inch on center studs and figure out some way to get to 16 inch on center studs. I had 16 inch on center studs so it all worked out. I used a level to draw a top line and I was able to see/follow where the seven bracket supports had to be bolted to the wall under the shelf. The hanging bars go into the support brackets easy enough. There is a two pin trigger system to push down, get it through the bracket body, then let up on the pins to lock the pins-one on each side of the shelf support to lock the bar in place. Thus it is very easy to put the horizontal hanging bars in place. I snapped onto the hanging bars some of the bike and object hooks. I have not used all of them yet. I have my shelf six feed above the garage floor so it is much easier to hang and remove our bikes. It is very nice knowing the bikes won't fall off. I had a bike hanger that I had installed 20 years ago that actually just did fall off the fall-the screws had bent. If my cars had been in the garage, I would have seen dents. However, this shelf is much superior to the junk I have used the last two decades to hang things. The bike and other item hooks snap onto the horizontal hanging bars so these won't go anywhere. They do slide left to right which is very nice because moving things left or right to take advantage of new hook configurations as you need them-that is really nice. The shelf looks very nice, it carries plenty of weight, it is very light yet quite sturdy, and it can hold double-stacked bins or more. I can already see a green bin for holiday lights, a yellow one for tools I don't use often, a blue one for the baseball cards, and so on. The important thing is I am getting a lot off the floor and safely stored up on the shelf. This shelf was exactly what I was looking for. It has a limited lifetime warranty. It is 96 inches wide by 20 inches deep. I wish I had gotten this years ago.
