Answer This Question

A:  Hello CeeDee, Yes, the seed is viable for planting without waiting another growing season. You do not need to stratify the Buffalo Grass Seed or treat it to break dormancy. To help your buffalo grass grow, keep the soil lightly moist, watering briefly and often. Once you start seeing small green shoots, continue watering this way for another two weeks. After that, you can begin watering deeply and infrequently to help the root system grow. Thanks for shopping with the Home Depot

Maybe 10% has sprouted. Has been planted a month. I live in high altitude with cold nights. Now I have to keep the birds out of it. So we’ll see.

First of all I did not get my original order, they sent 2 packets of tomato plant seeds instead of 2 half pounds of Buffalo grass seed. When I got what I ordered I did a meticulous job preparing the ground and planting - that was 15 days ago. With great care and attention I thought I would at least see some results... nothing so far, just a plot of great top soil. I'll continue to care for the planting area and if i see results I'll change my one star rating.
