Questions & Answers

unable to get unit to light, propane not getting to the pilot

Assembled per instructions and unable to light. Tube from the tank OK, gas coming out although not going the pilot apparatus to the top pilot light. followed the directions, holding the knob down 30 seconds (even longer) and attempted the ignition switch but not lighting. took the top off and continued to trouble shoot, no gas is getting from the propane connector through to the top. Attempted to light pilot using grill lighter to bypass ignition switch, still unable to light. Problem must be in the pre-assembled pilot apparatus.

Customer Reviews

41,000 BTU Stainless Steel Propane Patio Heater is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 799.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Puts out heat nicely We almost bought one of those fancy dancing flame heaters before buying this one and I'm glad I read reviews before I did! The fancy one apparently does not put out much heat so I am glad we passed on it. This heater took a while to assemble but is nicely made and sturdy. It took a few minutes of clicking the igniter to get it to light the first time, so don't give up too quickly. Once lit, it produced a nice amount of heat but burned through one canister of gas in about 3 hours at 33 degrees outside temperature, so have an extra gas canister on hand for a long night. The one complaint is it has no wheels for moving it and it is quite heavy and awkward to move. I have seen a similar product at Academy Sports for the same price and it had wheels, but I had already bought this one. I think a wheel mechanism is nice to have but not a deal breaker. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from MUST READ!!! ok. if your having issues like I have been then read here, a little backround on my Im an ex satellite operatior for the army, I do fiber optics, line of sight como, and various other skills which include welding, I now own my own business which is the need for the heater. IF YOUR HEATER HAS STOPPED WORKING after about 2 hours of messing with wiring and electronics I bypassed the tilt switch, which didn't seem to be playing any effect at all on the product not working, but I was having no gas but had a spark on the ignitor, well after trying for so long and getting gas to come out about once out of every 50 times I turned it on, I realized there is a sensor where the pilot light is supposed to be, if you turn on the button and hold it down, hold a lighter over the pilot light hole, then switch on the gas and manually light it, the gas will start pumpimg, im no hank hill so I don't understand the sensor/heat effect on the pilot hole releasing the gas, I just know how to make it work :) hope it helped

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCEEDS MY EXPECTATIONS Needed to replace a $200 patio heater I bought 4 years ago. Was hesitant to purchase this one because of the low price and some of the comments I read. Glad my intuition won and I purchased it. It was easy to assemble (and I am a 65-year-old female), it is very attractive and, once I realized that the pilot knob needs to be turned all the way to the stopping point, it lights the first time, every time. I spend a lot of time outside, so I turn it on more than 5 times a day. It puts out great heat so, unless it is 30 degrees or less outside, I turn it to a lower position and don't use as much propane. Very happy with this heater.

Some parts are rather flimsy.Works well enough, but a few days later Home Depot has another higher BTU model for sale for less. Left me feeling short changed. Time will tell if it corrodes quickly, especially if we leave it outdoors (under a roof that protects from sun and rain) through the winter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never worked... Heater burnt unevenly and made popping noises first time we used it ... should have returned but continued to try to make it work. Called customer service number on product; they pretended to be helpful but no results. Trash. Waste of money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy assemby and easy to start Bought the unit this morning and assembled it this afternoon. Instructions are very good and easy to follow. Biggest problem was removing rubbery plastic coating on the heat deflector prior to assembly. Had read a few negative reviews on the ignitor and starting mechanism. There was no problem with either and starting is fairly simple if you follow the directions. There is plenty of slack on the hose that connects to the propane tank. Suggestion, to avoid complaints by others that the angle of the connector is not favorable, connect the tank to the hose while it is outside the unit. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONNECT THE TANK AFTER PLACING IT INSIDE THE HOUSING.....FAR MORE DIFFICULT
