1) do you need to wet the surface befroe application ? 2) how soon can you drive on it after application ? 3) does it really last 10 years after an application?
Asked by: Charlie
I applied it to a dry surface but some cracks were still damp from flushing the dirt out (garden hose pressure and standard jet nozzle). It was about 80 degrees most days I was working and the first coat was drive ready in about two hours. I waited 6 hours before allowing vehicles just in case the tires pulled the thicker sealer out of the cracks. Actual life span would depend on maintenance and use. If it's clean and free of dirt/debris when driving on it I think it would last many many years.

I'm not clear about an earlier question that was asked - My Home Depot rep said we could use this on our driveway in coastal Maine where we have a significant freeze/thaw period otherwise known as Mud Season aka Spring in other parts of the world...can you please confirm we will be okay with this or do we need to use a different type of product?
Asked by: nia
Yes, make sure application temps are above 65 or even above 70 for best results. Apply in morning on a clear dry day.

Did about 1000 Sq ft with 5 buckets which is approximately 200 sq per bucket with one coat. Dried pretty fast with good black color. Product was good and easy to work with, not much mixing needed. Broom works better then squeegee but second coat will be needed since my driveway originally is very porous. Let see how long it will last , that is why only 4 stars So far I like this product.

Coverage was less than expected, so order 1-2 buckets more than what you think you need. Was dry to drive on within 48 hrs. and was a dark black color. Remained a little soft for about 1 week, so go easy on it with tires or it will leave marks especially in hot temps

I used this sealer for crack filling alligatored areas in a large parking lot. The shrinkage in larger cracks was better than I expected. I used multiple coats and it seams like it's going to work out just fine

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Product - But Claims Are Wrong I used this product to do my little-old-lady's driveway and I got the best product I thought I could find. It is a good product and if you use a drill-mixer to stir it up, it is NOT "watery" as one of the other reviews states. It does slop around and splash when you pour it, but much better than the Henry product I saw on youtube. She had a TON of cracks, which I used a trowel patch product on (way better than the liquid crack-fill stuff) and her surface was fairly pitted and pock-marked. I put it on with a brush and it did a nice job filling them in, but did not COMPLETELY fill them in. No way it would do that. Maybe a second coat with a squeegee, but not this year. One other thing, it is NOT something you can "drive on in a few hours." That is false. We gave it two FULL days of nice, warm weather and then she drove on it and it left marks in the surface and also made marks in the street where her tires rolled. Closed it up again and gave it another FULL day - then it was fine. It's nice and black, has some degree of brush marks in it and the driveway looks 1000% better than when I started. LOTS of hand-work prepping, ROUNDUP to kill the weeds in the cracks, then water spray full blast to clean out the cracks, let it dry, swept and blew off the driveway completely clean, then used a mason brush to cut-in the edges and areas up next to the garage and concrete window areas. Makes life a lot easier, otherwise you get a lot of slop at the edges and it doesn't have the same edge. Basically, to make this kind of job work, it takes a lot of basic work. The more expensive products (especially a gel product) are going to give you a better finished product and are nicer to work with. Get a drill-mixer or forget about it. This stuff is not ready to use, no matter WHAT they say or who says it. Would you use paint without stirring it? (They won't put this in the paint shaker at Home Dept, it does not work and it is meant to be stirred, not shaken, unlike James Bond's martini). Don't forget to clean the entire driveway with Simple Green and then rinse it off thoroughly with a hose or you're going to regret it. All-in-all, a good enough product, just don't believe the advertising baloney and be prepared to spend a lot of your time getting things ready. I used 5 buckets on her driveway and the prep took me at least 2 full days over two weekends. The patch needs to dry well and then you need to go over it again, because cracks open up where it sinks down into the crack and it needs to be done all over again. No one will do it better than you will do your own driveway.
