What exactly are the smart functions that this surge protector provides? I like the surge protection and the USB of this Geeni although what I need to know is: If my security camera plugged into this Geeni shows to be "Off-Line" when I'm viewing it remotely and I know that there is internet and electricity to the Surge Protector, does this Geeni allow me to turn off my security camera (plugged into the Geeni) and then turn it back on so that I may recycle the camera remotely? Any suggestions you may have would be helpful. Thanks!

Allows me to turn on or off each AC port independently or schedule them. Allows me to turn on or off the USB ports all at once or schedule them all at once.

Can I control the switches with browser instead of mobile app?

Only option in the pamphlet is an app. Note, I could not get it to connect using app on IPod Touch and a tablet running Lollipop was incompatible with the app in the store.

Will the unit stick to scheduled on and off if internet connection is disrupted. For instance if cable is out for hours.

Asked by: Mike
We just recently installed the surge protector and got the app downloaded to the smart phones. We have not had any power disruption to date to test the scheduled memory functions but according to the manufacturer the app would keep the settings on your phone and when power is resumed the info would allow the surge protector to perform its previous programed functions.

Having the 4 USB ports is great seeing as I'm always charging my phone, PS4 controllers, wireless speakers, etc. It's convenient to be able to charge these up while still having the ability to use the outlets to plug things in. After many failed attempts, I haven't been able to get the WiFi working through the app so I can't speak to this feature. That's unfortunate since that's a huge part of the functionality of this surge protector. It seems pretty straightforward to set it up, however. Like other power strips, there is a notch on the back that allows you to mount it to a wall or shelf. It does not come with any screws.

It's not totally the best, but it's also not the worst. Setup is manageable but takes a little patience. Once up and running I was able to get this paired with our Echo so we can use it with voice commands. We however can't use all of the plugs because they're spaced too close together which is a little annoying. Also worth noting the USB plugs can't be controlled individually, it's all or nothing. (or at least I can't figure out a way around that) Overall it works, so that's good, there are just a few nagging drawbacks that don't allow me to give it a full glowing endorsement.

This surge protector has four USB outlets in addition to four standard appliance plugins. We are using this unit in our office where we have smart phone chargers as well as other USB powered units. The unit is well designed and provides good protection up to 460 joules from power surges that could otherwise harm electronic units connected to it. The unit is also compatible with all 2.4 Ghz WiFi networks and can be controlled through the free Geeni download app from the manufacturer. This surge protector sets the new bench mark for multi-task protection and functionality and comes with easy to understand features. We are very impressed with the quality of this unit.

My regular surge protector was already full with work related devices, and I needed additional outlets and USB ports for personal items. This fits both bills perfectly. Plenty of available outlet space, and with the dedicated USB area, outlets aren't wasted with bulky USB transformers. It has the ability to control specific outlets via smartphone, however I will not be using that at work. I can see the benefit when used to control lighting at home though. I'm using it to charge my phone at work, to charge an external bluetooth speaker, and to power a desktop calculator. It handles everything easily. It gives good power through the USB's to charge my phone very quickly as well, at 1,200mA.

Stylish, easy to setup & just works, which aren't things I frequently say about smart home devices, though they've been getting better. Adding this to my wifi network couldn't have been easy, it actually worked on the first time! From plugging it in to working with it in the app was just a few short minutes. I like that all 4 outlets can be controlled, plus the USB connections. The only drawback is that the 4 USB ports are all either on or off, they can't be controlled individually, but I'd use those pretty much exclusively for charging rather than direct power, so that's probably not an issue for me.

Our four member household has multiple gadgets requiring a USB dock to charge. Many of my outlets looked like medusas head with all the wires coming out. This strip allows me to plug in directly to a central location. If I want to, I can add 4 charging blocks and charge up to 8 items at a time. Having this kind of versatility is great. I don't have a need at this time to turn on any electronics remotely so I have not utilized the blue tooth wifi technology.

Tried to connect using Lollipop and was told it was the wrong version so there was no app. Tried Ipod Touch and it failed to connect on 2 tries. Switch was in the same room as the network. Perhaps it needs an Iphone or a different version of Android. The outlets are facing a direction which spreads the adapters across the length of the console. Have no idea whether it will get patches so it may not be safe to use even as a dumb surge arrestor. Smart devices which cannot be updated/patched have resulted in becoming part of a botnet.

It was a snap to setup, although it did require an additional app. It works great with Alexa but make sure you name each one of the four outlets something that you can remember. I did Plug 1, Plug 2, Plug3, and Plug 4, then named the USB, well USB Ports. I have some network equipment that periodically needs to be restarted and I used to have to wait to get home to power it on and off. Once i put this in place I'll be naming them accordingly, giving me control through the App when away from home. THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT WORK WITH WINK!
