Since each application is unique, we are unable to properly size a unit remotely. We do have a sizing calculator online that can help you get an idea on what generator may be needed, but we strongly recommend working with a dealer to ensure the proper generator is picked. Our sizing calculator can be found here: https://www.generac.com/for-homeowners/home-backup-power/build-your-generator, and all of our local dealers can be found at www.generac.com/dealer-locator.
Because there is no industry standard way to measure sound output on portable products it makes it very hard to compare brand to brand. Generac does not list the specific decibel level for our portable products for this reason. This is an open engine similar to a lawn mower so it does not run as quiet as our automatic home standby generators, is comparable if not quieter than most other brands.

Your 50A. outlet has to be a 4-wire outlet (2 hots, neutral, ground). Your wire to the generator has to be 4-wire (white, red, black, green) and rated for 50A or more. The ground wire in this system is carried from the generator to your panel through the wiring that connects them together. Your main panel is grounded to a ground rod, and is therefor connected to the generator through the green wire, and no other connection is allowed or needed.
